Warcraft III: World of Warcraft project Overview
Warcraft III: World of Warcraft:
Warcraft III: World of Warcraft(
Wc3:WoW) is a large project for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, made in Warcraft III's World Editor. Wc3:WoW aims to remake World of Warcraft (Originally made by Blizzard Entertainment) in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. What makes this mod better than all other remakes of WoW? This version is, by far, the best remake of WoW for Wc3 made.
Basic Overview:
Wc3:WoW features many elements that the actual WoW has, such as interactive "Player-Bots" (Computer heroes that run around and do whatever most human players do, such as gank players who are grinding, do quests, and can even join your group if you requets them to)
The terrain is very detailed and is made to look as much like the terrain in WoW as possible, so even those who play the real WoW can find areas to be familiar to them! How do we add in all of the areas of Azeroth AND make it look good? Well Wc3:WoW is a campaign for Warcraft III and will hold more than 30 maps. Each map is a different zone or part of a zone. Does this mean Wc3:WoW is not multiplayer?! Yes and no. Wc3:WoW is currently not triggered for multiplayer just yet, but once the single-player version is completed (All of Kalimdor and Lordaeron is completed) then we will convert the mod into a working MMORPG and will be monthly fee free version of World of Warcraft! Wc3:WoW is know world-wide but not enough people know of it still. Hopefully by the time we get the multiplayer stages, we'll be well know all over the globe.
What makes this worth playing? Well... first off, it's 100% free. Second, it's the first MMORPG made with an RTS engine! Third, no hackers or macros: Meaning no one can ruin the fun using unfair third party programs and no gold/xp farmers (
Something the real WoW hasn't protected itself from yet)
Our Motives and Purpose:
The motives of the Wc3:WoW Team making this great mod is to create something new, something no one else has ever been able to achieve! What helps motivate us? Our fans and other positive things like that for Wc3:WoW helps us want to finish this and do our best. What is the purpose of all of this? To simply give those who cannot afford the monthly payment to play WoW often something very similar to it. Something better than a trial version! This may be the next best trial for World of Warcraft once it is finished. Our purpose is to help the poor people have fun like all of the other MMO players in the world! To give people a taste of a really good MMORPG for free, other than Runescape or Shadowbane.
Multiplayer:
"How is it possible to make a campaign into a mutliplayer MMORPG?!" with JASS programming and a special third-party program called '
WarSoc'. WarSoc is a third-party program that will allow Wc3:WoW to have many MMORPG gameplay aspects, such as extended player limit to atleast 20-100 or more players per server!
With WarSoc, Wc3:WoW can be hosted online. Not on BattleNet since that'd be illegal, but on a different server host. The only way to play the offical server of Wc3:WoW is if you know the IP Address of the server since WarSoc uses TCP/IP. It shouldn't be a problem finding the IP Address though since once the server is up, the IP Address will be announced on the website and forums.
Do all players have to play the same map in order for this to work? No. Players can be in any map while other players are in another, yet in the same server! Does this increase lag? Nope! This feature is one of the major features of Wc3:WoW that will make it closer to being like WoW.
Do lagging players affect other players like on BNet? No. If a player lags, they lag only themself and no one else will suffer any lag-spikes. There will be several servers hosting Wc3:WoW. Each with different preferances for laggers. For instance, people who lag very often should play in servers that have maximum ping at 1000 or so, and players that lag rarely should play the servers that have maximum ping at 400 or lower. What does Maximum Ping servers do? Well if your latency exceeds the maxiumum Ping for more than 15 seconds, you will be kicked from the server to keep the server from slowing down. If it does not exceed the limit, you will not be kicked. This will help very much for those who enjoy PvP and even PvE as well. For example: if you're lagging often and are trying to kill players, the other player's latency will be just about the same. Or if you're in a raid doing a PvE instance such as Dire Maul, you'll be surrounded by players with good ping and not have to worry much about delayed spells being cast, etc.
PvP:
PvP will be included in both the single-player and multiplayer versions, all though the multiplayer version will be much more intense and more advanced of course!
Will there be Battlegrounds such as Warsong Gulch or Alterac Valley? In the single-player version, very unlikely. But for the multiplayer version, yes and without a doubt.
Arenas? Hopefully it will be available for Single-Player version as well. But Mutliplayer version will definately have it.
Dueling? Yes. Both the Single-Player and Multiplayer version will feature this.
Ganking for both versions? Of course!
Transportation:
Players can get on a Flight Path for a small price and fly to a previously
discovered destination. Players can also get on Zepplins, Trams, or Boats as well to enter different continents.
Quests:
Players can receive quests from NPCs, complete them, and turn them back in to the NPC for their reward(s). Player-Bots that are in your group can help you accomplish these quests easier quite often.
NPCs and Player-Bots:
Depending on what type of NPC they are, they can give players quests, items, rewards, train your character new spells and upgrade other already known spells.
Player-Bots play a huge role in Wc3:WoW. They add to the realistic player feel and can definately be helpful for many situations, such as if you were killing some boars and a small group of hostile players or hostile Player-Bots engage you, friendly Player-Bots can help you if they are near or in your group. Player-Bots are
required for some situations in the Single-Player version such as doing instances such as Ragefire Chasm, Wailing Caverns, Dire Maul, etc.
There for, Player-Bots play a huge role, especially for the Single-Player version and help bring the game to life... whether it's multiplayer or not.
Terrain:
The terrain of Wc3:WoW will be made to look as much like the terrain in WoW as possible to make even the players of WoW recognize the zones. Each zone is made in a seperate map. Some maps are pieces of zones, usually large zones, such as The Barrens and Ashenvale.
The two continents that will be playable are Lordaeron and Kalimdor. Will expansion areas be included? No. Atleast not for a while.
Basic Gameplay:
The gameplay of Wc3:WoW will be made as accurate to WoW as possible. Spells, Terrain, Items, everything! There will even be Talent Trees to put talent points into to increase your character's chance of survival and to give you a variety of talents to choose. Choose them wisely and skillfully!
Character Creation:
At the moment, creating a new character is rather simple and not much like WoW. But eventually, you will be able to change the character's hair-style, gender, and possibly skin-tone! Can you name your own characters what ever you want? Unfortunately no. We'll need to find a way to do so though.
Main Goal(s):
The main goals for Wc3:WoW is to remake World of Warcraft as accurately as possible for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne players to play for free. We also hope to get it working online as well to enable some really intense PvP battles, PvE raids, and more! Another goal is to get spotlighted or something by Blizzard Entertainment! Any positive feedback from Blizzard would be awesome!
Music/Sounds:
Wc3:WoW will use almost all of the same sounds and music used in WoW to make Wc3:WoW sounds alot more like WoW and keep it interesting.
Real WoW Exports or Custom?:
Everything in Wc3:WoW is customly made by the modellers and skinners of the
Wc3:WoW Team. We will not use any exports what so ever, except sounds and
possibly, however very unlikely, animations as well. Why won't we use WoW exports? Because if we do, the filesize of the campaign will be around 2+ gigabytes and we're not implementing them to avoid legal issues.
Open Beta or Closed Beta?:
We've recently removed the existing Open Beta. However, there will be a launch of Closed Betas pretty soon to official Wc3:WoW Team Beta Testers. If you wish to apply, please answer the three main questions in your application. Instructions can be found at the website in the
