The AI is pretty nasty, but it's very easy to manipulate. The simplest thing to remember is never leave holes in the middle of your territory, unless it will make the computer leave a bigger hole in his.

Gosh, the AI was pretty nasty. I have to fight it about 22 match only to be able to beat it as I only manage to figure out how to handle it at match 22.

If you're having trouble, let the AI win at the start. I managed to pull a 37-21 out of something like 20-10. One stupid move can fail to gain you territory, or it can fail to hold territory. Failing to gain is better, and is easier when you have no territory to lose.

Granted, you can't just let it steamroller you, by the time a third or so of the board is filled up, you need to start pushing.
 
This totally deserves a double-post and a bump.

Also, Septimus probably used Human v Human mode for his 53:5, 41:17 was ridiculous and it needed insane amounts of luck.
