What factors influence a hero's defense? I've set Combat - Defense Base = 2 and Combat - Defense Upgrade Bonus = 0 and the hero's defense is still 6 in game. It must be a default setting I don't know about, and I can't find anything on it.

Armour increases defense, and agility gives armour. if you payed any attention to wat stats ur heroes are getting, its pretty obvious.

agility gives defense.... its basic knowledge every wc3 gamer should know.

Rather than go on a long tangent about how to answer questions on a help forum, I'll just point out I'd already thought about it. Obviously.

So...

Any actually helpful people want to help me figure out/explain why the hero has 6 defense when his agility is 21 and his base defense is 2. If he gains 1 armor for every 3 agility, why doesn't he have 9 armor? (2+(21/3) = 9) Is there a cap or something to that effect?

are you sure its not 5 agi points to a Armour, as normal wc3 mech works. becuase 21/5 = 4.blahblahblah + 2 is 6. if it is 3agi to a armour point, experiment a little until you figure it out

Is it really? The tooltip says 3:1 and the gameplay constant is at .3, which would explain why it's not exactly +7 (unless it uses the ceiling value of the result).

Did you change the gameplay constants?

If not, every hero starts with -2 armour. Hence your base of 2 as far as the game is concerned is 0.

Well that would do it, though now it's at 8. But, if it doesn't use the ceiling value, (and it's not REALLY a 3:1 ratio but Agil * .3) then it makes sense because 2+(21*.3) = 8.3 and rounding leaves us with 8, which is what's showing up now that I've set the gameplay constant to 0 rather than -2.

If this is the problem, then thanks all :D
