i am submitting a map to try to figure out how to make it so a custom hero can only be trained once.

If the building containing the heroes is working like a Tavern rather than an Alter you can use the trigger:
Neutral Building - Remove Unit-Type (From Marketplace)
Just make sure the unit selling the heroes has the ability Sell Units.

thats just the thing im trying to make it work more like an altar i dont wanna sell the Hero i want to be able to train it just as you would a paladin or a lich i only want one to be trained.

Then just use:
Player - Limit Training of Unit-Type

be sure to put it in a Map Initialization Trigger

If your custom hero is a custom unit, then you should also put that unit in Advanced>Gameplay Constants>Techtree-Dependency Equivalents- Hero.

Otherwise you could still train other heroes while you train your custom hero.
