Health as spell cost

i was wondering if there is anyway that i can make a spell cost health. i know i can do this with a trigger like when somone use's an ability it take costs like 50 health. But i wanted to to show like a health icon then 50, like how it shows the mana cost of an ability. Is this possible?
 
The only thing related to that is building or training. The problem is: You'll see the health icon as a resource then, which is a very bad idea, since health losing abilities are per unit and can't be expressed in player property unless only 1 unit is available per player.
 
And you can heal triggering unit's mana for mana cost, and damage it for health cost, so it would lose mana only for a second..:?
