Which gems would you recommend for lvl 60+ in the different slots?

Currently I'm using: helm: amethyst, weapon: ruby, other: main stats.

Is that the best use of gems, or is there another combination which is better? :)

Seeing how you are only level 60, the + bit is irrelevant until later this month when RoS is released and players can actually reach level 70.

helm: amethyst
Both rubies and diamonds are viable alternatives to this. Rubies give you 31-41% more experience which by itself is not much however it will add up to the odd paragon level here and there in the long run. Diamonds reduce ability cooldowns by 10-12.5% which by itself is not much but can make a huge difference with skills like Archon as it translates to 12-15 seconds less time to cooldown. If you are already a high paragon level the ruby does not help you much. If your build does not use skills with cooldowns (
3-4 slots with cooldowns) then the diamond does not help you much.

weapon: ruby
This is best for very fast attacking weapons like 1H bows and daggers. It is worst for slow attacking weapons (most 2H weapons). This is because the damage scales with attack speed and not the base weapon damage.

Depending on critical chance, Emeralds might be better than rubies as you can get an extra 100-130% critical damage and this is especially the case with sub radiant star rubies as the damage they add is considerably lower.

Diamonds are also a viable alternative as they add you 15-20% elite damage. Since elites are the only thing you really need to damage as white tash mobs die fast even with low damage. However you may find a good ruby adds more than 15% damage to some weapons at level 60 which makes diamonds useless. This may not be the case at level 70 where rubies may add over twice the damage but weapons also deal over twice the base damage.

Topazes might have a function in weapons for some obscure builds but this seems more a RoS thing as crusader seems to be largely designed around thorns. Throw in some 70 sets that cause thorn damage to reflect to all enemies in 12 yards and it might be dependable as a primary damage source. Barbarian seems to also benefit from this through its one passive but I do not think it will do anywhere near as much as the Crusader.

other: main stats
Only way to go for pure DPS. If you want survival (for HC this is important) then rather throw diamonds in them. Each diamond adds 58-78 all resistances which is a huge amount and can very quickly add up to serious all resistance amounts. Diamonds are logically better than prime attribute at survival as 780 points of defence is considerably more than 280 that each prime attribute gem will give you.
