Garithos Human Campaign

Garithos Takes Over the Human Campaign

Created by Nral & Blizzard Entertaintment

Campaign Info

A parody of Warcraft 3's first campaign: Scourging of Lordaeron, where you play the campaign as Garithos and his Captain, Bilric Rothar. It has AI voices, custom units, items and cutscenes. It's mainly focussed in altering the story of the human campaign so I don't have much to offer regarding gameplay.

Trailer

King Terenas promotes Garithos to Grand Marshal and gives the command of the Forces of Lordaeron. Lord Garithos sends Arthas away and marches on a journey with his loyal captain, Bilric Rothar to stop the plague that consumes Lordaeron.

Saviours of Mankind Symbol

SPOILER WARNING - This is where I explain the the stuff that was asked regarding lore of this campaign.
  • The spell Exorcism is from WarCraft 2, and is unreleated to the enchantments Lord Garithos asks to protect the villages. The one Garithos asked was the undead damaging aura that appears in the Path of the Dead campaign where Arthas invades Dalaran. Unfortunately I couldn't find a proper place to use that but I kept it nonethless because it was essential to revealing the Dreadlord's disguise.
  • Garithos started recuiting former Silver Hand paladins and begin to form the Saviours of Mankind before the start of the campaign.
  • Uther and Garithos aren't in the same command chain. They command different armies. Uther saying that he's superior as a Knight was not related to his rank, but for him being more experienced than Garithos.
  • Arthas and the Undead Scourge are enemies in Mission 9 but they never attack each other for the sake of the mission difficulty.
  • Garithos has Lion symbol on his shield so I used it as symbol of his faction. I know Stormwind has this too but Lordaeron Crest also has a lion on the hammer if you look clearly. I figured that lion symbolizes humans, not Stormwind.

Features
  • Unique Items called Hellslayer and Shadowfang
  • Additional main and side quests
  • A New Hero: Captain Bilric Rothar
  • Increased difficulty (Though it's not a veteran level, only Hard puts up some challenge)
  • AI Generated Voiceovers
  • Kirin Toric Cube to craft the Unique Items mentioned above
  • New cutscenes and dialogues

What's Next?
There won't be any take over campaigns. As I'm planning a sequel to this story and characters. It'll probaby take place after Frozen Throne, in Outland. But since I'll also need to make new terrains, it'll take a lot more time. I don't know when I can start making it.

Support
If you wish to support me for my published projects, I have a Patreon account right here. But I don't ask money for the future projects as I'm not sure if I can bring them to life. You can follow me on Youtube and support me there as well.

Patch 1.01
  • Fixed Chapter 2 Dwarf Sacrifice cinematic where everything stays invunerable when you skip it.
  • Changed the trigger that loads Arthas instead of Garithos in mission 7 and 8.
Patch 1.02
  • Fixed the bug causing units to pause for eternity in mission 3 where Garithos goes to get his "reward".
  • Fixed the bug when the quest item gets picked by Bilric.
  • Disabled the trigger that re-sends Garithos to take the Frostmourne after the Frostmourne cinematic sequence.

Garithos Human Campaign (Campaign)

Reviews

The Scourge of Garithos While a nice parody of the original, for the most part the gameplay is the same, the least creative part. On the Frostmourne chapter, after the heroes return from the blade quest and the scene ends, during the huntsman's talk...

Hello, I couldn't find how to make the ''Shadowfang'' any tip please?
Gharbad the Weak from Human mission 3 gives the sword, you upgrade it to elite version with the Cube.

There's a secret item in the same mission that is required to upgrade the sword. We see the same item in mission 1 optional quest.

The only thing I'd ask for is original maps and more cool secrets and items, because they're awesome.
I don't plan adding anything new to this campaign, but the sequel will have completely new maps and items, if I can ever bring it to life.

Although it really was a good campaign (where not much changed from the original), there is something about it that made me want to abandon it. I noticed that all the texts were altered (maybe due to a language version), but this is something that has never happened to me before, so I’m posting here.

Switch to English, I used to have similar issues with another alternate campaign (some RoC undead campaign edit) before.

Hello, I have a problem. I downloaded the campaign to try it out for myself. To my surprise, the trees were not displayed, but I could harvest them and see their shadows. Do you have any idea what could be causing this problem and why I can't see the trees. And no, it doesn't do that to me on the other personalized campaigns. Any idea how to fix the problem?

Made me laugh.

Deserves 5 stars.

that's it.

EDIT - i loved that the captain gave wrc2 styled narrations and that as we progress through the story we start to see some drastic changes like in misson 8 and mission 9. I also enjoyed the character development of Lord Garithos by the end of the campaign.

Humanity Will Rise Again!

What can I say? In my eyes, this is a masterpiece. What initially seemed like just a meme joke reconstruction of the campaign I was following on YouTube turned out to be something much greater. Of course, the memes are still there, but the entire experience is truly iconic for some reason. Lord Garithos fits the role of the main character extremely well; it really felt like this campaign could have been the original one in a different timeline.

I loved everything about it—the extra voice lines and the jokes fit wonderfully into the Warcraft III world. Nothing felt out of place, which is quite difficult to achieve successfully.

The extra voices you created, especially for the new knights, were absolutely incredible! I genuinely have no idea how you achieved that quality, but they rival the old Blizzard standards. If you told me those were made by the original Blizzard, I would have believed you without a doubt. It's truly impressive how good they are!

I imagine your experience with StarCraft voice lines played a significant role in creating those. The way you combined your knowledge of StarCraft and Warcraft III to develop both the new knights and the revenant voice lines was a stroke of genius!

The only negative aspect I can point out about this custom campaign is that the early chapters lack the flavor that the later ones have. For example, the first chapter is 99% similar to the original. I would have preferred if the enemies were buffed a bit, especially the orc mini-boss at the end. It would have also been nice to introduce some new elements into the maps; hence, the campaign only truly feels epic from the midpoint to the end, but until then, it doesn’t quite reach that level.

Another issue I have is with item creation. I only managed to craft the Epic Axe for Garithos, but I know there was at least one more item, right? It would be cool if you included some tips to inform players about which items are important for later recipes when we obtain the creation cube to craft them.

I enjoyed all the extra cinematics and story changes as well. The best one was when Jaina was revealed as a Dreadlord in disguise, and the execution of that ending cinematic with Detheroc and his eventual demise at the hands of the captain was really well done. Not going to lie, that entire cinematic felt like watching a movie. The plot twists and everything were absolutely amazing—truly a cinematic experience!

My Playthrough:

Now for the rating. Despite being extremely well done, it is still just a recreation of the original War3 Human campaign, so the highest rating I can give is an 𝓢 Tier (Masterpiece) 90 out of 100 points!

Thanks for giving such detailed review. :infl_thumbs_up:

The reason why I didn't change much in this campaign is that I wanted this to be more real and show how strong Garithos is compare to Arthas. But with all those unique items made the game much easier so I had to increase the difficulty along the campaign.

I mixed a lot of features from other games together and bring them to Warcraft 3. It worked quite well imo. Unfortunately I'm inexperienced with Warcraft 3 editor so I hit a snag several times and given up on some of the ideas I had but I was surprised to get Exorcism quest work in The Culling. For my first campaign edit it was hell of an experience, I had a lot of fun. Glad you guys did too.

I would love to work with others for my sequel for this campaign but I'm not sure if I can get people to work with me. And honestly, I'm not used to work with others as well. :vw_death:

I got rid of Gerard's ledger after a few levels, which I assume is what you mean, cause nothing indicated I was supposed to keep it. Also I never got the sword from Gharbad. I left him alive cause it implied he would help, and I killed him in a save I made. He doesn't drop anything, is he supposed to?

What items do I need to craft the 2 unique items in chapter 7?

This is the most polished campaign I've played recently.

Gameplay is about the same as the standard "Scourge of Lorderon" but it's sprinkled with "Garithos humor", WC2 nostalgia and smart replacements of units giving the best mix. You can even say something about Garithos redemption arc uf you wish.

  • voice acted
  • works with Reforged out of the box
  • has NOT crashed on me at all (which can't be said about many other campaigns)
  • has the same complexity as the original (ideal for people recovering from The Legends of Arkain)
  • even the most mundane interactions gets something fun and refreshing

Full marks!

Humanity is in peril!

Anyway, this campaign is not the simple Scourge of Lordaeron #1234, @deepstrasz. Okay - I will call it the "Scourge of Lordaeron With Bit of flavor" edition if we don't include AI voice-lining work and tweaking the story. Missions are mostly the same, except for Hearthglen-one and 2 last ones. For the Dissension mission main quest still says "burn down 5 ships", however, our task is slightly different from burning them down.
I played it on Hard and honestly, our heroes are way too powerful - at some moments of gameplay, I charged into enemies with my heroes only and smashed them for the goodwill of HUMANITY.

Garithos is a strongman - even though his abilities are nearly the same, except for the replaced aura ability. Captain Hero is strong, very strong - with a secret artifact and Zeal LVL 3, he becomes a literal machine of killing, dealing high amount of DMG in a short time.
Muradin is Muradin. Jaina (hmmmm) is Jaina.
This edition of the Arthas campaign is way easier on the same situations thanks to 2 overpowered heroes.

Race setup? I don't why I should use wizards, chaplains are enough & combined with heroes and musketeers (or how they are called btw) are strong enough for first levels, the latter ones are done with dozens of dark knights.

Enemy is mostly unchanged, but the final level with Mal'Ganis being super-strong I didn't expect. However, he was lazy enough, so his laziness became his undoing. Why he didn't attack the enemy human base at all?

Overall I can say, @Nral, that you nailed this campaign well. It's full of meme potential and it's satisfying to play even on Hard, which I rarely find satisfying difficulty in custom RTS campaigns.
Like and recommend to any sane human, who wants to connect to the basest human commander in Warcraft fandom.

Come on, if there is one constant feature for any "humanity fuck yeah" campaign on Hive (including my own), it's overpowered hydromancers/wizards that totally own every hostile with mass summoning water elementals or casting mass AoE damage spells like Blizzard :p.

Yeah, that's the point of wizard - 2 or more units for free (mana is eternally replenishable, unlike gold/lumber) + powerful spells.
In the @Nral case, even on Hard, I didn't find any reason to use them against the enemy. Probably they could make the final mission easier, but its already easy when you have 2 additional gold mines, and enemies have 1.
So you can literally spam with dark knights (knight with roar & holy light spells), add clerics for sure and marksmen for air.

But in general, I agree.

There is no way to downgrade map & campaign version as far as I know and I'm not gonna remake the campaign from the scratch.
Theoretically you could do it map by map with Map Adapter but then you'd need to compile the campaign yourself if the game cache doesn't work without it by playing each map individually.

I am very much in awe after playing this campaign, the amount of details in every campaign and it still shares the same aspect and feeling of the human campaign surprises me. If you want something done, leave it to a human.
