Ok. Let's try again.

I have created yet another map in hopes that my mapping skills are finally at least half-decent.

It takes place in the Forest of Souls. Two warlords fight for domination, due to the vast amount of resources in it. I have tried to create an AI but failed so this will have to be played through battle.net or LAN.

Current Features
- 4 Tiers
- Custom Music (From Warriors Orochi 2 for some reason)
- 2 Players
- My best terraining, even though people will still say its quite bad.
- 3 easter eggs. (Two can only be found in single player mode. However the opponent will not do anything as I cannot get the AI to work.)


Please give feedback. My main concerns are the Terrain, Gameplay, Memory leaks from the triggers, and finally the balance.

Hi! As a warning, my primary focus is Balance, but since you expressed interest in hearing opinions on various areas, I'll give it my best.

Terrain: The terrain was basic, but not in a bad way. It has a fairly general "Spring" time theme and you clearly stuck to it. It could use some improvements, but for a beta map, its fine.

Gameplay: The gameplay was very fast. Is this by design? It takes 1-2 seconds to kill a single enemy using focus fire, while several seconds to build him back.

Memory leaks: Very few triggers and to my knowledge, none of them have any real potential leak.

Balance:

  • Armor did not scale in comparison to Damage.
  • Sacrifice could use some more limitations or could just be removed completely.
  • Scaling is a bit silly. By Tier 4, a Tank can hit for 60 to a building that only has 100ish health. Two hits to win the game from one unit is a bit silly in my opinion.
  • While not entirely a fault of Balance, units could use more individual abilities to add diversity.

There was a significant number of typos and even a few of the dreaded 'green boxes' that I'd take a second to fix real quick. For example, the Tier 4 icon actually says Tier 2 on one of the buildings.

I have never played the game that you have (loosely) based it off so I can't remark on that.

This is more of a personal annoyance: Many units have the same voice. For example, Robots and Musketeers. For some units, its fine. For others, it is just awkward.

1.The Gameplay is meant to be very fast, although I'll slow it down as you are right in the sense it seems a little TOO fast.
2. I'll triple the building HP for the final version
3. Green boxes will be replaced by generic Icons and typos will be fixed.
4. I am working on the abilities now.
5. I'll add some extra triggers.
6. I will remove sacrifice. (I only added it in case people wanted to remove a unit from play, but I now remember that you could just give a friendly fire order!)
7. I forgot about the voices, I'll change them.
8. Finally, I am trying to find a decent terraining tutorial as it is my weakest point besides balancing.

Sounds good overall. Has a lot of potential!

Here is the next version of the Beta. I have added
-2 abilities per tier (1 Generic, 1 for specific units.) NOTE : EVERY UNIT WILL HAVE AN ABILITY BY THE FINAL RELEASE!
-Tripled building HP as promised
-Weakened the Tank's damage and strengthened other units HP so they will last longer.
- Units now take longer to train based on tier.
- Added roocey to the credits for the first Beta Test.
- Added bird doodads around the map.
- Removed sacrifice, but I have not added any more triggers as I do not know which to add.
- Changed voices
- Green boxes of doom removed
- Armor fixed (I think)
- Fixed a few typos

Next will be the final release on the Map Section. Of course if no-one tests this map then I will just release this one with the extra abilities.
