Who thinks there are possible flaws in how the alerts work?
Shortcomings due to how the alerts system was designed, and which can be considered annoying / disruptive in some cases. Therefore, I am not really talking about bugs here. As for me, our alerts system works 'as intended' and everything seems to be 'by design' afaik. But maybe some options can be added to it, for "Quality of life" reasons (like for example, a better management of the data flow of alerts), depending on what XenForo natively allows.Define what you mean by flaws. This happens with me too. I might've caused crashes on the Hive server back in the old days by opening so many tabs at onceby preemptively opening one new tab for each new event. But now my browser is shock full of open tabs, because I can not process them fast enough.
The problem in this case is often that once a thread is replied to and you get an alert, it will not alert you in the future until the thread is again marked as read by reading the last post.Another thing I have noticed: I, too, have the feeling that I do not get all the alerts I should theoretically receive for threads I have subscribed to / am watching, but hardly visit anymore. I think it is for the reason you have mentioned already @Rui.
As an example, I do not post anything anymore in our 'Favorite song atm' thread, and I only visit it when I am being mentioned there. And when I then vaguely check out said thread, I indeed have the feeling that I had not been notified of all the new posts there.
What you said @Rui confirms my guess that it is a XenForo feature, which limits the number / rate of alerts a user receives for threads he has subscribed to but does not / hardly visit anymore. This might be in order to save bandwidth / processing power server side, based on the user's surfing habits on THW.
