Just did this for fun in some spare time. Anyone care to comment? This is my first.

I personally like version 2 better.

Thanks for the rep =). Actually, the beach IS sand, although I admit it doesn't look very sandy. I agree with you about the end of the world. How would you recommend fixing that?

Here goes:

-Add a fog
-Use another dirt tile that matches the sand and mix it with the sand
-Get a better angle, for some reason this just isn't a very good angle
-I suggest not using those canopy trees, I think the other sunken ruins trees are much better looking
-add some seashells

That's an awesome start though! Well done.

K, just uploaded a third try. I tried using rough dirt along with sand as per Belgarath's advice, along with some seashells. Not sure why the white fog is visible on the sea. I need to fix that. I think I will probably take out the ship also. I don't like the rock spires much either, but I need something to break up the sharp edge of the world.

Take 4. I cleaned up the horizon, got rid of that funny fog, and used Gilles's suggestion to replace the canopy trees with normal ones. Not sure if I like the way the trees on the horizon look, but we'll see.

Here's the island at a different angle. I also played with fog. Unfortunately there's no good night time equivalent to the wind effects, or I would have used that.

I like the second and third, they've got pretty neat athmosphere. It's kinda Shipwrecked-like. I don't however approve of the last screenshot, that doesn't look as good. Might be because of the camera angle but whatever.

I suggest keep using the rough dirt tile you have used a tiny bit, it looks fine. Or use a normal dirt tile. Why is your water black? It looks really bad.
