Rules
1. Post your own work only!
2. Only one (triggered) spell should be sumbitted.
3. Don't protect your map!
4. The spell should have been started after the contest started.
5. Do not use custom sounds, icons or models that boost your spell's effects!
6. Your spell must support multiple levels (at least 2)!
7. You cannot use WEU's advanced functions!
8. The test-map should provide proper testing of the spell (low cooldown, many/respawning creeps, etc...)
9. Both JASS and GUI are allowed.
10. If you use any 3rd party tools, say what they are, and if they're obscure, provide a link!
3rd party tool examples:
  • WEWarlock
  • Grimoire (and/or JassNewGenPack)
  • WE Unlimited
  • WE Helper

11. You may use utilities (that do small jobs), but no large do-it-for-you systems.
Examples of utilities:
  • Local Handle Variables
  • CSCache
  • Armor Detection System
  • Vector System

Examples of large do-it-for-you systems:
  • Particle System
  • Caster System

If you break the rules, you will be disqualified from the contest.

Calls down waves of meteors from the skys onto target point. Each meteor deals 30 damage and stuns for 1 second.

I hate to be a spoil sport, but couldn't this be done using rain of chaos, spawning a dummy/invis unit, setting area to like 50, and setting dmg, stun to whatever they are supposed to be? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like this really requires no triggering at all...

CarrionMan19 - Burning Cross
  • Idea: 2 points
    Similar spells have been done before, many a time.
  • Triggering: 2 points
    A huge amount of if-then-else checks were used for what could be solved with simple math, and the trigger leaked a bit.
  • In-game Playability: 2 points
    Would work well in a variety of situations. However, if you didn't channel the spell for a bit of time, it would hit everywhere except the middle.
  • Visual Effects: 1 point
    The dummies were visible and had shadows. Otherwise, it was fine.
  • Theme: 3 points
    Pretty destructive!
  • Total: 10/18
    The triggering and idea could have been improved, and dummies should have been invisible. fairly good otherwise.

Dil999 - Shatter
  • Idea: 3 points
    Original but not that special.
  • Triggering: 5 points
    You forgot to null u3 but that's nothing major.
  • In-game Playability: 1 point
    Kinda overpowered in basically any situation, and it also occasionally doesn't kill the units. (If they get heavily damaged from other explosions right before they would explode)
  • Visual Effects: 2 points
    Pretty nice.
  • Theme: 3 points
    Pretty destructive!
  • Total: 14/18
    A weird glitch and not very balanced, and not that special. Fine otherwise.

Fulla - Armageddon
  • Idea: 2 points
    Similar things have been done before.
  • Triggering: 5 points
    Nothing to complain about.
  • In-game Playability: 3 points
    Could easily be balanced, and would work in a variety of situations.
  • Visual Effects: 1 point
    The dummies were visible on the minimap. Everything else is fine.
  • Theme: 3 points
    Nothing to complain about.
  • Total: 14/18
    Not too original, and the dummies could be seen on the minimap. Everything else was fine.

Just_Spectating - Total Destruction
  • Idea: 4 points
    Fairly original.
  • Triggering: 2 points
    You could have used math instead of an if/then/else to determine the number of times to loop, and levels 2 and 3 leaked a lot.
  • In-game Playability: 2 points
    Well, it hit allies but from what I understood wasn't supposed to. Otherwise it was fine.
  • Visual Effects: 2 points
    No problems here.
  • Theme: 3 points
    Pretty destructive!
  • Total: 13/18
    Fairly well executed all around, watch out for leaks..

DiscipleOfLife - Draenei Bombardment
  • Idea: 5 points
    There are things that are slightly similar, but this was executed in a much different way.
  • Triggering: 5 points
    Nothing to complain about, nice.
  • In-game Playability: 3 points
    Would work well as a support spell or for sieging bases.
  • Visual Effects: 2 points
    Beautiful.
  • Theme: 3 points
    I would fear a catapult bombardment like that over my town ;)
  • Total: 18/18
    Your best spell yet, in my opinion. Very well done.

Need_O2 - Thunder Strike
  • Idea: 5 points
    Original, nothing to complain about.
  • Triggering: 3 points
    Leaks a bit, and 'tar' is undeclared in strikeac if there are no units in udg_locusts, meaning you will cause a thread crash and leak a bit.
  • In-game Playability: 3 points
    Nothing to complain about, would be a nice army masher.
  • Visual Effects: 2 point
    Looked nice.
  • Theme: 3 points
    Destructive all right!
  • Total: 16/18
    The triggering could use improvement, the rest was nice.

kentchow75 - Mad Rush
  • Idea: 3 points
    Charge spells have been done a lot, I liked the execution of this one though.
  • Triggering: 3 points
    Tons of BJs were used, and it was highly inefficient. (Laggy when it shoved ~5+ units)
  • In-game Playability: 3 points
    No complaints.
  • Visual Effects: 2 point
    Nothing major, but the SFXes stayed for a second as tiny blobs after they should have died.
  • Theme: 3 points
    Destructive!
  • Total: 14/18
    The triggering and idea could have been improved, but everything else did not really leave much to be missed.

Congrats to all contestants, but it would have been nice if the spells were a bit more unique in general =/

Damn it! I got owned again and this time I easily could've done better! That's life I guess, nothing to complain about

Oh, and I already made the dummies super small, what's wrong with that? I also gave them Locust... I think

I see... I know I could've at least removed the shadows, but still...

Oh, and I had 8 dummies, not 4. I suppose you could counter that by saying that 8 shadows make an even darker blob, but I just thought I might point that out

Congrats to the winner.
I only had 1 day, so I quickly made/submitted that spell.

Im glad Purple took the effort to mark & wrap this up fairly quickly. Most spell contests on other sites seem to take weeks to finish.

Now awaiting the next contest :)

I made my spell in 10 minutes and edited it for only 30 minutes, didn't really pay real attention to it..

I was surprized when i got 14/18 :O

The categories are fairly lenient, and there wasn't really any reason to deduct marks from your spell anyways.

I marked way harder with Zephyr #3, but these are much more calm and laid-back contests than the ones in The Arena.
