I like the idea, but I see a couple issues with the fences in the way you've done them by just moving the rails around and removing the nails.

First of all, the texture is a bit off with the change from the rails from being nailed to the fence posts to being fitted into the posts.
This has left those large darker patches on the posts and rails where the rails used to meet the posts, and the black holes in the wood texture where there used to be nails.
I'd advise lightening the dark patches to match the rest of the wood, and retexturing the holes into wood to match the grain of the posts.

The second thing I'd advise to do would to be to make the rails straighter and thinner, so they're a uniform thickness about a third of the width of the posts, and that don't flare out at either end (how would they fit into the posts?), like in the examples below:

Finally some good fences. But how do I add them so they use the variation system in the object editor, so I don't have to create one model for each?
Hmm, I'm not 100% sure (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong), because RMS is refusing to open the relevant models, but looking at doodads with variations, their Art - Model File is "XYZ <Base>", which I assume means that it contains all the "XYZ <Variation>" models of the same type that you can see in the RMS screenshot.

Will there be stone fences?..

Actually, i need battlements that I can put on top of the flat wall here:

any chance to turn the original fences into seamless fences? (so the fences don't clip into each other?) I hate importing things. I'm really a fan of just using "local files" to replace stuff from the game instead of having to import stuff to every map.

I taking a brake from this simple edits and cuts of, so for now no ;/

Why don't you just use the Wall Low doodads?

my fence short light model doesnt show (invisible) and cant open map now, every time i try to it crashes my editor.

maybe i did something wrong? i followed the steps from
  • fence_short_light.dds => fence_short_light.dds
  • fence_short_normal.dds => fence_short_normal.dds
  • fence_short_orm.dds => fence_short_orm.dds
imported fence_short_light_01.mdx and used for my unit, but didnt show up

edit: i used SD graphics editor

I guess the problem is that you use SD graphics editor and try to use HD asset. SD asset do not use normal and orm textures.
Copy map and try open it in HD graphics editor
