I don't particularly like Anime as they often don't really have a story, but then again there's always exceptions and I've found a few of them are actually interesting - Avatar and Full Metal Alchemist.
You should try Death Note P:

1.) Clannad
2.) Clannad After Story
3.) Clannad OVA: Tomoyo-hen
4.) Clannad Extras
5.) Clannad BD
xD

he is trolling :p
just smile and wave

In that case, skip the poll. Seriously, you'll never get all animes on it anyway, and not all people have one of the most popular animes as their favorite.

Other doesn't quite cut it.

I don't particularly like Anime as they often don't really have a story, but then again there's always exceptions and I've found a few of them are actually interesting - Avatar and Full Metal Alchemist.

You've probably only seen Shonen anime(age group teen), such as Naruto, Bleach etc, or you've only had really bad luck.
There are as many different genres of anime as there are western movies/tv-series. Many does have a great story. It's just that the most popular genre is the Shonen fighting(Naruto-type).
Just because Harry Potter is one of the most popular book series in the western countries doesn't mean that it's the only genre we have.

A common mistake, made by people who only scraped the surface of Japanese animation.

I never really got into the Anime stuff. All the stupid people around my age watch and or read Naruto or something like that. I find that these mainstream things are complete bullshit, I can't even see how they rose to fame - they make absolutely no sense in any way whatsoever, and seem not to share one single rule with the real world. With the possible exception of gravity.

However, I realize that I've only seen or even heard of 2-3 animes, and I can't even define the genre itself. Therefore, I can't claim that all anime is shit - it's like saying fantasy movies all suck after seeing Eragon.

Well I would say that it's the mainstream ones that ruin it for the few that are actually good. Look at what's at the forefront (the anime that doesn't only come on at 12 p.m. on satudrays):
-Naruto - a tard "ninja" that would die on the first day on the job because he won't shut-up
-Dragon Ball Z (well this used to be at the forefront) - There is no story, don't try to explain one because this shoe makes absolutely no sense at all. It's simply unexplained fighting that goes on for hours on end with a few random rants about power levels - and it equates Hair to power.
-Pokemon - Now I've been a long time fan of the video games, but this show is annoying and simply driven by the related content. Without the card game, and the video game no one would pay any attention to this.
-One Piece (is this shoe even on anymore? no clue) - I really have no clue what to say about this. Between rubber kids with ADD that somehow manage to garner respect and age jumping reindeer doctors it's safe to say that no one has a clue what is going on here.

Granted the one's at the forefront are targeted at 10 year-olds, but that doesn't excuse how terrible they are.

You missed a couple, such as:
Yu-Ghi-Oh: A shoe where the main character seamlessly transitions into an apparently older *egyptian* version of himself to better play a card game, which is over dramatized enough as it is, nevertheless more senseless drama is added by including references to heart of the cards and super cards.
Digimon: Pokemon that talk normally, but still doesn't take away from the fact how incredibly annoying and insane the story is, you'll last longer watching this than Pokemon, but the end result will be the same, you either quit watching or you find a gun to blow your brains out.

lol, well Digimon was so forgettable and never lived up to pokemon so it's understandable that I would forget that, but how could I miss Yugioh? That show is just ripe for being torn apart.

Yugioh episode template:
-Get in battle with someone who conveniently has their cards ready (grown men carrying around stacks of cards waiting for a challenge......)
-Activate the puzzle box and suddenly grow a foot and a half taller with a smug smile
-Play some bad cards, insist that they are part of some greater strategy
-Other person suddenly gets good cards and plays some uber strategy that is completely unrealistic
-Counter it
-Other person cheats or makes up some rule that never existed in the game, or add some effect to the card on the fly that doesn't actually exist
-Start losing
-Give speech (this should last like 5 minutes, the other guy doesn't listen at all)
-Make up a strategy in which you need some crazy 3 - 4 card combination which is completely unrealistic
-Stare at deck of cards and hesitantly draw one
-Hold it in front of face
-"hmmmmmmmmm"
-Smile
-Give new speech
-Play another impossible strategy and win
-Walk away, other guy is either left passed out (they always seem to pass out when they lose) or falls to some horrible demise.

Repeat

The first part of Naruto was actually pretty good. However funnily enough, the death of Zabuza almost symbolized the death of the series, atleast for me. After that it just got insanely annoying and boring.

Nyan Koi, Needless and Rec look more like hentai than anime imo. Unless they're the same thing, I wouldn't know.

Others look like your average Naruto/DB, but some few actually looked nice.

Naruto is better on Manga rather than Anime. Then again, it still pretty much sucks. Which Ninja make noises when they fight? Okay, maybe metal clangs but no else. This? Ninjas fighting on an open field? D: Fate/Stay Night is kinda nice. Though I've just watched it once or twice.

Manga = The Japanese word for comic.
Anime = The Japanese word for Animated movie.

It's as simple as that. Technically all western comics are manga and all cartoons are anime.
In the western world however, people have started to refer to Japanese comics or animated movies as Manga and Anime, even though it clearly is faulty.

And Ecchi = Slight Nudity. Soft Porn, pretty much.

@Cyberduel: I can't believe you didn't put up "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu" next to Lucky Star! *madface* I ought to kill you for that, since it's one of the best I've seen.
