extracting icons fot edit

how can i extract icons from warcraft to edit them?

Warcraft III Viewer is an icon editor's best friend.

Simply open a MPQ archive, select the desired file then extract and convert.

hmm i cant find the healing spray icon... why is that?

You certainly picked a VERY tricky icon to find... hehe

The Healing Spray icon is contained in War3Patch.mpq: unfortunately, Warcraft III Viewer won't open those files.

To extract resources from War3Patch.mpq, grab a copy of MPQ master v1.2.0 That's what I use to pry the resources out of the patch file, because most tools won't open them.

and in this program how do i know its healing wave because i only get files like fil00000451.xxx or something like that:S

(I believe) that to extract files from the patch, you must have WCIII:TFT installed.

1. Use MPQ master to open the file War3Patch.mpq located in your Warcraft III folder.
2. Check Warcraft III.txt from the "Select Listfile" dialog.
3. Browse to: War3Patch.mpq\ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons
4. Right click on the desired file, then select: Extract and save the file as BTNHealingSpray.blp
5. Begin the editing process by switching back to Warcraft III Viewer, open the .blp, then convert it to an image file.
