Exporting sc2 images

I want to edit a SC2 Image with paint, how do I export it?

Get a better program, paint is junk.

Try GIMP. It is free, safe (GNU liscenced) and has a ton of user plugins and content for it. I am sure there must be a .dds importer for it somewhere.

You can use the DirectX Developer tools to convert an image back into a .dds. Nothing does it better seeing how Microsoft made it and .dds.

But how do I export it from the editor?

I usually use a third party MPQ tool and extract from the data archive files in the installation directory.

Find it in some form of viewer (like going to Data, finding something that needs an image, then browse) then just right click and export.
I do it for the minimap images all the time.

But how do I export it from the editor?

Not actually sure if any mpq program would work and couldn't find a link for the one I use, but it would be something like this: http://www.angelfire.com/sc/mpq/

mpqedit is the only way to go.
