Effect giving AND buffless passive dummy spell?

Hello, I ran into problems with displaying an effect on a hero just by adding a reliable effect showing ability based life regeneration ability due to his metamorphosis spell which makes the ability disappear.

I tried readding the ability using events such as a unit enters playable map area or a unit begins casting casting an ability/ a unit finishes casting an ability/ a unit starts the effect of an ability but nothing works.

Is there some kind of passive ability out there that I can use as a base for a dummy passive ability that also display an effect through altering its art settings? I wanted to try auras but they all give an annoying buff which can't be done away with. Is there ability that allows for both displaying a chosen effect and not displaying an annoying buff?
