Draeneis 'N' Demons Tag!
Prelude & Idea:
Welcome!
Welcome to my rather small project, that aims to be a clever mix of a 'Tag you're it' map, and professions!
In this map, on startup, the players are divided into draeneis and demons at random. For each 3 draeneis, there will be one demon. (If only 2 players, one on each side)
from here on, it's simple - draeneis run away, build a small base, using their buildings, get some defense against the mighty demons.
- And here's the twist: For a rather large sum, the Draenei can train a craftsman, that has a profession! these professions are highly versatile, with the options of trading, between the players.
Finished percentages:
I will be using 2 percentages per item, the first describes how finished the necessary is, and the second how 'blinged up & fixed' it is.
Terrain: 100% 0%
Buildings: 100% 40%
Items: 80% 0%
Runner spells: 100% 80%
Tagger spells: 100% 50%
Professions: 50% 0%
Models: 80% 0%
2D art: 60% 0%
Systems: 100% 90%
Triggers: 90% 0%
Participant info:
Runners:
The runners, or builders, will generally be slow. yet, their abilities makes up for it. The runners have 4 abilities, And a list of buildings.
Buildings:
Weak wall UPG: Mediocre wall UPG: Good wall
Explosive wall
Lookout tower UPG: True sight tower
House +5 food
Arcane gold extractor +gold income
Slam tower (Knockback 3 - see how later)
Stun tower (5% chance)
Slayer tower (high damage)
Enchanted book (30 sec build time empowerment caster building)
Mess hall (troop & profession training facility)
Create ice (Creates ice in a small area - for use in the knockback system)
25% Evasion "Lucky dodge"
Berserk "Careless sprint" - increases movement speed by 100%, but increases damage taken by 1000% (yes, as in thousand)
Storm bolt "Emergency strike" - Stuns the target tagger for 2 seconds, and applies knockback 15. (read about knockback later on)
Thunder clap (dummy) "Slide!" - Slides forward, gracefully evading taggers. This actually just applies knockback 30, directed forward. - Also, if you're standing on the top of a ledge, or you've become stuck as you respawned, you can use this ability to jump down, easily losing followers.
Demons:
Demons are heroes - they have a massive amount of HP, damage etc.etc. The level limit is currently 15.
The demons start with a spellbook, from the edges of the nether, containing spells (Hopefully more to come, suggest!)
Relentlessness of the Abyss - Reincarnation, basically. 0 second cooldown (constantly) with 30 second delay - rendering the demon completely in-killable, yet slow to recuperate.
Scourge - Changes a large piece of the terrain around the demon tagger to blight. While standing on blight, the tagger regenerates 10 hp per second.
Destroy minerals - Sometimes, minerals can get in the way, blocking the tagger completely, to upwigh this, the tagger can instantly send all nearby ore veins to the abyss. - removing them, they do not yield anything.
Sentry ward - What's a Tag, if the tagger doesn't have sentry ward? Huh?
Besides this highly useful spellbook, the tagger also has 5 abilities, it can learn throught the regular hero learning system.
Chain of destruction (Chain lightning) - Sends out a chain of destruction, that wrecks total havoc among buildings - dealing (150/300/450) damage to the primary building, then jumping the nearby other buildings. each jump deals 10% less damage.
Storm bolt (yeah, storm bolt, lazy me) - Slams the target hard with a stormbolt, dealing (75/180/300) damage. Can target everything the runners have.
Far sight (... Far sight) AoE vision gain, & invisibility check. (small/medium/large) area revealed.
Wind walk (why do i do these parenthesises? ... Wind walk) Faster moving invisibility, weehoo!!! - Yeah, not original - and guess what, backstab damage
(100/240/400)
Avatar (avatar -.-) - ultimate - Spell immunity, more Armor, more damage, more hp, SIZE ;D
Professions:
So far i have 3 professions, but i'm aiming for 6 - maybe 7.
The professioned draeneis can be bought at the mess hall, for a hefty sum - they're pretty vulnerable draeneis, that specialize in some sort of craft.
MINER
Miner - A miner is a clever and strong draenei, that can gather minerals, from ore veins all around the map. When the 'gather minerals' ability have been hit a few times, the ores will be destroyed, and minerals will drop from it. any mineral may drop nothing, or all 4 drop items:
75% - Hard rock
40% - Iron Ore
25% - Green Ore
10% - Jewel
The Miner can build a blacksmith, that can fuse these items together. E.g. - if the blacksmith (that has 2 slot-inventory) holds 2 hard rocks, it will create a mixed item, that grants +5 armor. The rarer the minerals you mix, the better the item, although even a hard rock and a jewel can be mixed, for a great result. (damage return, in this case) - These mixed items can be held by walls and towers - or even your runner. the +300 hp item, or spell immunity will do miracles for whatever thing that holds it - but it has a downside, if the holder dies, the item will drop, for the tagger to take - unless a building uses 'Demolish' while holding the item - then it will be gone.
SCHOLAR
The scholar is an extremely clever draenei, that cares for his library. He can build a Bookshelf, that contains spells and magical books. The Scholar has gotten his hands on every type of magical energy - besides demonic, and is therefore craving to get hold of some. He has the abilities "Flash" allowing for 500 range teleportation "Homecall" Teleporting the draenei to one of your Bookshelfs (Although you probably only will have 1) - with 5 second casting time. And lastly, but not least, "Crystallize mana" - that can be cast on a demon. When this demon is struck by the spell, it'll lose 50 mana, and some crystallized mana will be given to the scholar. - this crystallized mana can be turned in at a bookshelf, to replenish 50 mana. But, if the demon gets a hold of the crystallized mana, he'll get +50 mana, permanently.
The Bookshelf has these 3 spells (Until further notice)
Scribble - {20 mana} Creates a tome, that, when given to a building, permanently increases hp by 50.
Riftcall - {30 mana} Summons a draenei Soldier, through a rift from Outland - ready for battle.
Tome Merge - {250 mana} Destroys 4 Enchanted books within the designated area, and in the process, creating a mark of rapture, an extremely powerful artifact, that contains the power to slay a Demon.
Gardener
The gardener is a pretty easy profession - not much here. It uses lumber, as the base for it's advantages. The Gardener has an ability with 60 sec cooldown, that grants +1 lumber, and he can plant some stuff. all 'plants' take 30 seconds to fully grow. This profession takes up alot of space.
Tree - {1 lumber} Has ability 'Harvest' that creates a bundle of lumber, that give +3 lumber.
Mushroom - {5 lumber} Has ability 'Harvest' that creates an edible mushroom, that restores mana and HP (This is bugged, and instead creates a bundle of lumber in the BETA, sorry)
Peruvian Ball-plant {10 lumber} Kinda like the explosives wall, also applies knockback to the killer of it, but has more HP, and no inventory space.
Thorns {25 lumber} Walkable, invulnerable thorns, damages 20 per second to any enemy walking over it, can't be struck by anything (Again bugged, not invulnerable, if i'm correct, don't remember) These thorns only go away, when the draenei owning them dies. Can't be destroyed in any other way.
Many more plants to come! Suggest!
Systems:
Knockback system.
This is a powerful system, which is used alot. numerous abilities, units and buildings, use this system, to either gain momentum, or slamming away unwanted enemies. This system only works on units with movement, and when knockback is applied to them, they start sliding away in a direction. the number specified after 'Knockback' in the knockback abilities, tells you how far the knockbacked will fly. knockback incapacitates the knockbacked, whilst being knockbacked. If anyone is knockbacked, while on ice, friction is reduced dramatically. This system is used very much, and brings an element of teasing and planning to the game.
Trade system.
The players' views are all hidden from one another, so noone gets an unfair advantage over anyone else, when turning demon. The respective teams are allies, none the less, and should therefore have a chance to exchange items and resources, without having to risk a long run across the map - the trade system is not finished, and has it's flaws, but it tries to make up for it. Any player may write -Trade XX (player number) and a tradebag will spawn at the runner. it has 6 inventory slots, and an ability that trades it to the designated player.
Plus an amount of minor systems, such as slam tower's ability, getting autocast.
Jobs:
Well, So far, i've done all of the map by myself, but since i'm not skilled in modelling and such, it could be nice to get someone to cover for me there, since there's only 3-4 draenei models. If noone volunteers, I'll just go on by myself, with a lacking map, no worries. jobs i need fulfilled:
Terrainer - to sweeten it up, with some nice texture variation and such.
Modeller - To create some new models for the draenei soldiers and such
2D Artist - To create new Icons, minimap preview (I've done one myself, but it turned out HIDEOUS!) and loading screen.
I've got the triggering covered.
Testers! - and lots of them - go test my map through, with your friends and such, show me typos, bugs and everything else! Map attached (protected) below!
