transformer shoulderpads?!
(18 ratings)
The team colour u make is awesome...actually in early I was thinking just like what u just say seperately make two vesion of her... And i noe wht wil happen if i merge both of her.. file size will increase... And just try and see wht u guys think about.. I can make a change for this version... Maybe just throw away the alternate... Just add the alternate shoulder pad as her stand ready attack anim but it might not look great like she have a morph anim whn her morph her shoulder pad... And anyway thx for u adviseI cannot even BEGIN to express how much I love your use of textures and the wrap on this one. I was sure you recoloured the Succubus. Shandris?? Holy crap. Only thing I would criticize in that regard is the purple crystals, which look dull and almost like chunks of dirt or rock. I would recommend using the Ancient Ziggurat texture (Doodads\Northrend\Structures\AncientZiggurat\Ziggurat.blp), specifically the teamcoloured-gem, and using a purple TC texture as well as glow and possibly a duplicated, Additive version of it on top of it to improve the crystalline effect. I would also avoid the Star textures and go straight for billboarded Glows. You could also use Textures\Flare.blp instead of the glow which looks nicer and softer. The Star is just too jarring and cartoony.
Now on to some general feedback:
-I feel like the morphing shoulderpads add little value to the model and only serve to increase the filesize significantantly. I urge you to at least include two versions which completely lack the morphing (one with each type of shoulderpads).
-The model lacks TC, and I would recommend you add it on the white part of the shoulderpads as well as on the white part of the shield. I am against the glow that she has, it is very much unlike anything else in WC3, and on most colours, it looks off-putting and weird, it clashes with her too much.
-She looks very heroic to me, in terms of WC3 models. A version with normal hero glow (underneath her and on her weapon) and Dissipate would not go amiss.
-If you want, take a look at the Human Ships (specifically the Battleship) for alternative gold trim textures, they look very good in my opinion.
-She looks maybe a little too stocky and short for a "realistic" style Draenei. Works for WC3, I guess, but the rest of the model is extremely highly detailed. This is a minor concern.
I did a little mockup of some of the changes I'm proposing:
How to only modify the team color of shoulder armor? I tried to make some changes and found that the whole body of the model was in team color.I cannot even BEGIN to express how much I love your use of textures and the wrap on this one. Sorry, I just want to learn how to modify the team color technique of the model shoulder armor. I hope you don't mind.I added Textures \ Flare. blp skin to the glowing area according to Mr. Deolin's suggestion, and also added Textures \ Purple_Star.blp skin to the gemstone area, changing the filtering method of Textures \ HeroLich. blp. The obtained model is very similar to the pink gemstone in your picture. In the dark background, the hammer is purple. If it's during the day, the hammer will be pink. The team colour u make is awesome...actually in early I was thinking just like what u just say seperately make two vesion of her... I didn't put these in the lacking category. I kept them in the 'needs fix' category until beginning of this years (and a few months after I was let go from the staff involuntarily) someone else put them in the lacking category without posting a review of it because some of the staff decided it was the best move to do so, even though it is worst move.Might want to contact the moderator. I think they marked this originally as "lacking" because I was toying with the filters for model search, just to see what would come up and this was not on the model list without "lacking" being clicked.
If the issue is fixed, you might want to reach out to General Frank or another moderator to update the status on this model, so it pops up in regular searches again under the models section of the site.
Edit: looks nice btw, can't wait to try this.

tl;dr - Not my fault and I am no longer in the staff.
Most of the resources that suddenly got the lacking rating were put there by someone from the staff 'behind there scenes' without any conversation with the author's of said resources and definitely without my input. I think the upper staff felt like they had to do something (without actually doing any workOh.
Sidebar: sorry to hear of your dismissal. I don't keep up with the internal goings on, so was not aware. Glad you are still around to provide feedback though and be apart of the community.

I think the upper staff felt like they had to do something (without actually doing any work) because there were so many 'needs fix' resources and this is not the first time something like that happened, but I am mostly speculating here.
If I put a resource in lacking then I meant it and you can see it in my reviews. Those resources deserved a lacking rating - This one particular did not.
