DotA 2 Installation Help

Hi guys,

I downloaded DotA 2 from multi-upload a few weeks ago in the hope I would get a beta key one day. Now, one of my friends gave me a key and I would like to start playing.

Someone said that if I placed the downloaded multi-upload files into the steamapps folder I wouldn't have to download the whole game again and I would be able to play. However, it wants to download everything again! Is there anything I can do?

Just download the whole game again ;_; It's pretty fast actually and Steam can get a bit buggy once you do something to it outside of the client.

Yup, I have started downloading it again. Unfortunately my line is very slow so it will take a while D:

Do what Vengeancekael said (Unless you're internet connection has a Quota like mine )

If that's the case, then trick it into thinking you completed the download by placing the files you downloaded into the Download Destination

I have tried that but it still wants to download everything...

It downloads the files to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\staging\dota 2 beta".

Let it download everything. The other download you have might have been damaged or turned into a trojen so it is better to be safe and let steam download it from offical sources.
