Hi, I recently got a trial for photoshop, and I would like to know how to make skins. I am helping someone else make a map and I thought it would be cool if I made some of the skins for it, but I have absolutly no idea how.

Even with tutorials its not very easy it takes weeks of practice, to begin with search this site for tutorials. Then your going to need to download a program such as wc3viewer in order to convert blp files from the warcraft mpq to jpeg formats. Then comes the hard part and that would be skinning outlining areas to match the location of the model exactly otherwise you´d painted\drawn a nose were the chin of the model is for instance, i find the light effect to be most hard weres there is light or shadow or where there is hard armor or just soft skin you´ll need the correct tools to do this and you can´t just randomly burn here and smudge there, not a lot of ppl can skin and not a lot of ppl can skin any good.

I like Wc3 Image Extractor (link to it is http://hiveworkshop.com/resources_new/tools/5/) more than wc3 viewer for importing and exporting blp's, but it's all the same
A good, free image editing program would be gimp, which can be found here http://hiveworkshop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29330
GIMP can be used when ur photoshop trial expires, or whenever u want to use it
For actual skinning, look through tutorials, and practice, because no tutorial is going to make you an excelent skinning, it'll just help a tiny bit in the process
If you need help on how to import\export skins, look in the tutorial section http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=281
