Do older maps work on 1.31 and can people still play older maps (particularly 1.28) with later TFT versions?

I've been away from wc3 for 7 years. I'm currently making a map on 1.28 world editor. I'm afraid people with latest or earlier versions of ROC or TFT can't play this. Also concerned if 1.28 maps won't work on 1.31 (although I think they do from some posts I've seen).

Is it possible to backup the older versions using copy and paste, then patch one into the 1.31??

Last question, does 1.28 release maps with wide screen support? I'm using 1920 resolution and maybe I'm too old but I think its wide screen? It fills up my whole laptop screen. Graphics never bothered me. I still play RE1 original. However, I want a game palatable enough for others to play. But forget about reforge, I'm working on the original campaigns.

First off all, maps that are made on the Classic WC3 (up to 1.31) can be playable on any versions of WC3. The only problem is that if you attempt to save the pre-1.32 using the Reforged WE, it obviously updates everything which makes an updated map incompatible for older versions of WE, unless you used third party method such as "Map Adapter". In short, maps that are made on higher versions of WC3 will obviously not work on the older versions of WC3.

As for getting 1.31, I highly suggest using this thread below. Remember to enter a valid CD-Key when asked and start the game using "Warcraft III.exe".

You can have a multiple WC3 installs, provided you have a separate folders.

1.29 is the first version of WC3 to have a proper Widescreen. I highly suggest using that one if you don't want the stretched one.

Also, please ask any questions related to Warcraft III here. There's a separate forum already, as this one is only dedicated for the editing tools:
