Diablo III Warcraft Beta v1.19b



This map has been based on the Diablo III Gameplay Video. You may even recognise a few of the in-game events if you've seen it! Please remember that this is a beta version, and may still contain bugs. Anyone can host this online, just let me know if you find any major flaws in the game :)

Can i set my own password for it? And will you be able to see the password i have if i change it? :O

Add a contact list containing our diablo3warcraft adresses so people can contact us if they want to ask something and is not a member of hive.

You should also add that the map is open source and that anyone can edit it if they give credits to the original creators. Its just one thing, i dont want my inventory system to be open source. Atleast people could ask me befor using it when it comes into the map. :p

Some of the text in our information boxes regarding our position in our team are centered. Shouldn't these be set to the left like yours? Btw, the FAQ looks epic now nicely done.

Will we be able to use the accounts over Live Messenger? It would give it a nice touch.

Btw, shouldn't we try to snap the position as the 3rd most downloaded map before the end of the month?

I dont think it can :( the URL is just an Alias, and thus, doesnt have its own hosting features :S

I dont really know for sure though, let me investigate!

Uhmm... actually forgot it. I havent got so much free time this week. Home test, home work, tests in school tommorow its a special day in school but then im free from the school for the rest of the week and i will get some time to work on it.

I have to say, the progress is amazing! That site is like: =O W00t! An own site! And i heard blizzard itself contacted you? I guess i can only say: Omg! You guys do an amazing job! =D,, keep up the work!
Unfortunately, i cant test this map for you, not becuz i dont want to, or i dont have time, but for the simple reason that MY COMPUTER SUCKS BROKEN BALLS IN DAYLIGHT AND EVEN DURING NIGHT! >=[,, i even lagged at the introduction cinematic thing,,
But i had a look at the video,, and tested my patience while playing for about 15 minutes,, but then i was about where you guys would be in 5 mins,,
but w/e,, you guys do a great job!
(Dont think the map is lagging, my computer REALLY sucks, it is cuz of the video card and also a not too big memory,, i got a laptop so i cant replace the video card,,
but i also lagg at Line Tower Wars,, so dont mind it ;) )

Though, i wonder,, how do you keep the map multi-player when you want to add maps to it (like a campaign,, or is it not like that? Cuz that was what i thought was meant in the description in the site)

When we say that we are going to make more maps, they are going to be separated. But in map two the players should start with about level 15. And when we have done many maps enough people will have to use save/load to level up their characters by going through all of our maps.

And good luck on the pokemon project! I have followed it for a while but i think you have noticed that i posted in the thread a few times already :]

I made the system 1/3rd mui lol... I hate myself but each transaction takes 30 minutes meaning I still have 4 to go...

I got an idea... I could further optimize the triggers so it'll only take 5 minute each. I'll test this idea.

I raised the waters hight to fix the graphical erretation or whatever it's called.

I'll send you my latest version so you can personally see what I've been battling all along. The messy camera that is. Ask the creator for a way to totally disable the til-camera for one specific player.

Wow... what a coincidence xD I woke up this morning, was about to go out the door, and had to rush back in to throw up :S lol Maybe theres an outbreak of something? :p

Back on topic, its all coming together now :D pretty soon we might have a final build, which means we can finally start making the second map ^^

We will keep working on the inventory even after the release. It has a lot of stuff that can be done. Like Inspect for example, players can look in each others inventorys. And some small stuff like that.
BTW Cloud, The inventory doesnt have a good "Drop item button" as you maybe have noticed in the last few pictures, its just a empty slot button on the left bottom of the inventory, maybe you could make a better one? :p

Anyway, if you want me to add any specefic items to the new system, just tell me. Remember to decrease the item stats MUCH now since that now you will be able to wield more then two weapons, two armors and Two Other.

You shold try to make so that the pictures popup like on Diablo3Warcraft.com. That would be awesome =)

1. There are several items in the map which gives minor/moderate/greater mana/life bonusses. I dont really know how much it is they give, so maybe you could write how much extra life/mana they give per sec.
2.Maybe you could change the names of agillity and intelligence to some more diablo like stats? agillity could be Dextrity or Vitality and intelligence could be Energy. This is taken from Diablo II and maybe theres some new stats in Diablo III. I dont know. But just a suggestion.

Think you misunderstood me. There stands at the items they give a minor bonus for excample. But how much IS a minor bonus? is ir 1/2/3 bonus mana per sec?
But as you say, you're making inventory system atm. So maybe it doesent matter, tho it would be good to see in the new inventory system :p

Orbs do not provide any descriptions at all. We will probably have to write the amount of health/mana each orbs provides in the item description text box.

The inventory is facing some slowdowns as I'm trying to further optimize it in case we have to change some 'underthehood' functions. This may or will reduce painstakingly long time it might take to apply them to all players, but you will still have to do some changes manually.

CloudWolf, would it be okay if I let you in change of the item setup for the inventory? It'll provide you with the necessary skills needed to use such a system. It's somewhat user-friendly.

Now i remember why i asked CW to come online on MSN today..
I was about to ask him what items and stats he wanted & if he wanted to create the item multiboards himself.
Since that isnt really my part, my part is to create the system, not the items involved with it, the first items i made was just to test the system and see so that everything worked. :p

There is no reason to create items as the map already contains a lot of items. You should only create the multiboard and then the inventory will do the rest with some minor adjustments.

All i can keep in the items is the name, icon and description. But all the stats have to be redone since you can have much more items now.

BTW, we should make "Item" contests later there people can sign up and show us a item and what it does and the 3 best items get added ingame. (Less work for us, more people gets happy and can be a part of the map xP)
We just have to make a quest in the questlog like this:

[Contests]
Item contest #1
Winner = CloudWolf
Item = CloudCloak

Item contest #2
Winner = RedMarine
Item = Unfriendly Fire
-----------------------

Ofc we cant enter the contests but this is just an example...

3/5 If it was a finished map, since it's a beta i'll go with 4/5

+Terrain is great
+Diablo feeling*

And that's about all I got on the big plus side.

-Booring abilities
-Unbalanced
-Diablo feeling*

Anyone that reads this should also know that I did not play it in multiplayer, in multiplayer many of the negative sides go away.

But seriously, in single player one has to kite tha F around with the bigger mobs, the mana waits are killing me and the need for "rage" with the barbarian made me cry.
*Diablo was and still is as it seems from the trailer all about slaughter, even as a single hero, but the mobs have to much health and even the smaller mobs take to much damage for that to really come true. Yeah sure, when you have mana/'rage' for spells you can own anything in range rather fast, but more often than not I got closed in with nowhere to go with no mana and health becoming a serious issue, the health orbs laughin at you on the other side of a wall of ghouls.
However the feeling of the terrain and the atmosphere with all thoose mobs closing up on you is pure Diablo.

Recommendation for improvement (imo), don't make the orbs Items, make it so that sometimes when you kill a unit a dummy unit appears and casts a healing spell at you, with a slow missile speed so one can see an orb of health/mana/both closing in.
Cus even if you got enough mana for a spell, the gap in units filled up faster than I could get through and the orbs would still be stuck on the other side. Also, units laugh at you as the place themselves infront of the orbs making them 'impossible' to click.

I have NOT read through comments so I don't know what other people think or what you are already planning to change etc.

Have you even seen a "Hack and slash" map in Warcraft 3? Its pretty damn impossible to create a map with the same gameplay feeling as in diablo.
Warcraft 3 is created to have a few units with much hp. And that makes it harder for us to customise it to be so fast. If we spawned about 200 "murlocs" and your able to just use a whirl wind through all of them its pretty hard to make that balanced, its nearly impossible.
What about rating the map after you know the faqs that this map wasnt originally suppost to be a replica of diablo 3? It was just suppost to have contents from the gameplay videos.

Trouble with doors and chests

I've got a newbish question, how do I open chests and doors? I'm not very familiar with Warcraft 3, but love the idea of a Diablo 3 mod as I'm a big fan of the series. So far from what I've played, this mod delivers a nice substitute until the game is released. :thumbs_up:

Aye, I'll admit, the project has somewhat evolved since I started it :) But, all criticism is welcome :D We'll try our best to make the gameplay faster and less dependant on there being a healer :)

For 1.18, I'm going to rebalance the orb drops to make players less dependant on healing abilities :p Lets face it, in the current build the whole team is screwed if theres no healer :)

As for adding items, ide be more than happy to :) If you guys can give me some sort of template, I'de be happy to import all the items in the new inventory :D

Also, that contest you mentioned sounds like a really nice idea :D Would definately help to keep the interest :)

Just talk with me on MSN and i tell you exactly what to do.
At the moment all you have to do is the multiboards for the items and that shouldent be to hard for you, i just have to explain some small stuff.

Eheeheh very nice, I tried it and it looks very Diablo3-ish. Really well made, has the feeling of D3 to some extent indeed. Aren't the ud ghouls better than murloc?? And indeed... there'd better be spells with 1 second cooldown or 0.5 seconds, diablo III will never have such cooldowns there. 'This item is cannot be carried by ...' rather 'This item cannot be carried by ..' ; larger inventory, many made such systems etc. These are my notes on the map. As the others said, I also think the terrain is beyond perfect, that's what's giving this map the awesomeness. Again it's not diablo if it doesnt have 0.5 1 second cooldowns.
