Combat - Armor Type changes the sound played when the unit is hit. The Sound also depends on the Weapon Type of the Attacker.
To emphasize on this, it is entirely for immersion so that having a piece of wood hit someone with mostly metal armor sounds like one would expect, rather than a slicing sound or a flesh splatting sound. Modern games might vary this sound depending on which part of a model is hit for even more immersion.

For Armor Type choose the material that best suits the unit's model. For the appropriate attack field select the type that best suits the attack animations of the model. For example a Footman would have a metal armor type and hacking based attack type. On the other hand a Mountain King may want a stone based armor type (due to Avatar) and a bashing attack type. A Blade master may want a flesh armor type and a heavy slash attack type.
