Custom user groups

Well, I thought it would be nice if there could be custom user groups, where people can join freely, similar to Guilds in WoW. And every "guild" can have their own symbol, name, leader, chat channel, forum etc etc. I think it's not hard to do, but it's still a suggestion, and may be stupid to some.

The general idea is good but it needs to be tweaked more. We can't just go around giving out forums to everyone.

beast_boy_bets, although the joke had potential, this is not the place for it since this is for actual site descussions and not for random jokes on topics.

H1v3Suxcks, do not just randomly spam with "lol"s since that is not constructive and does not help this topic go anywhere. If you want to show the author of a comment that you liked the comment, please send a private message to the person in question and not just submit "spam" to the thread.

DesKaladA, you are not a moderator here and thus please leave any rule breaking to us to deal with. You can help us though by using the handy "report post" function we have on this site which is the correct way to deal with such posts like ragingspeedhorn did. It is just that by pointing out someones mistakes, especially in the way you did it, it can encourage the topic to be come even more off topic.

Now please remain on topic and rember to be reasonably serious about your posts.

I don't see how custom user groups would really help anything. I mean, other than mailing lists or access to restricted forum sections, of course.

Yea I agree with PurplePoot. Its a bit pointless. I mean what would these groups do? What would be the point of having them?

They might be handy for if clans want a forum only for their members (basicly clan support on this site), but as you all know ralle and others are very busy and now is hardly the time for such an idea to be implimented.

I had this idea once too...I dicided I wasnt really any good. One thing I think would be OK is if you could make chatrooms like the pastebin, that only last one day or less, required a password, and you could only make one per a week. Somtimes I want to have a private convorsation with a few people.

EDIT: Allthough I would but it at the bottom of the list and do other things first.

Except that the whisper function in the chatroom already lets you have private conversations, and once the forum has channels, your idea will be quite obsolete.

Hive is not the place for you to chat with your friends privately if you do not wish to use our regular chatroom. For that there are dozens of instant messaging programs.

Custom user goops might be a good idea but currently from what i can tell the admins are really busy with the resource section. Now dont forget about phpnuke, smf, phpbb, joonla etc. they are easy to set up and use.
