Hello all,

I'm new to importing custom skins, whenever I try to import a marine skin it doesn't work, although when I import a hatchery skin or zealot skin it works! I have no clue what I'm doing wrong, I'm using "Assets\Textures\" path for all my skins. I reload SC2 Map Editor and SC2 before testing my map with new skins... I'm just not sure why my marine skin doesn't work... I made a whole new map too all the other skins work other then the marine =[ if you know anything that could help let me know!

Thanks,
Zaroth

You must remember to set up the model and actor for the marine to use the new skin and not the default skin. Also make sure the skin surface is not curropt or invalid (remember that only some .dds formats are suitable for surfaces).

I've been overwriting the default skin for all my skins, so does that mean I need to copy the marine model to use it with that new skin? How do I make sure it's not corrupt or invalid? I make sure it's the same size and save it in DXT5 ARGB 8BPP format with Generate MIP maps. I followed this tutorial by the way Custom SC2 Skin Tutorial

You do not need to replace the existing skins for most models. SC2 fully supports interchangable skins. An example is shown by the dark protoss buildings in the campaign which are nothing more than a normal protoss building configured to use a different texture. Under the model data (data editor) you can specify alternative skins for a model to use and then change to them via actor events. I believe SC2 mapster has a lot of documentation on this.
