Custom Model Attachments Cause Crash

I recently added like... 50 weapons/armor models to my game to be used as attachments, and now my game is crashing.

info:
- I have already done the obvious, and started a game, and picked up every single item, to see if it was a specific item, and, it wasnt.

- The crash has only happened while multiple people are in the game, and happens at random times.

- In a multiplayers game, me and some friends went through picking up every single item. It crashed, so we tried again 5-6 times, and there was no specific item causing a crash. At times, we would gear up, and then run around killing shit, or just run in circles, and other times, it would crash with us standing still chatting.

- I thought "Hey, maybe the widgitizer is screwing something up (I read that it has happened to people) so we played with multiple people on a protected map, but non-widgetized. Still have the problem.

- Also, if it matters, all of the model attachments are attached to items.

Does anyone know anything else I could check to figure out what is causing this? I really dont want to have to remove the graphics from 75 or so items, it was annoying enough getting them all added.

Are you certain it's an item? Can you delete all the attachments and play a game w/o any custom weapon/armor models? If there's still a crash then, perhaps it can be identified, but as it stands, I suspect you may have added a trigger or changed something from the time you added those models and now.

hey, i have another edit of the map, that doesnt have any of the item attachments. The terrain is different though. It is the same general terrain, just changed doodads and tileset. No custom doodads or anything added, everything was from the editor. Other than the terrain and the item attachments, I changed nothing. I thought it could have been something with the terrain, but the crash would have happened in single player also if that was the case, and i tested it in single player at least 10 times. It may have just been luck though, because a few times testing in bigger games, it wouldnt crash till 15-20 minutes into the game. Other times it would crash 3 minutes in.

I went back through and read all of the reviews on all of the items, (after posting here origionally) and one of them had a poster say "this weapon could cause a game critical error" but, as the item was approved by the site, i assumed it was someone blaming the item on their problem. the item during a couple of the crashes wasnt picked up (but was still in the game) so I have removed it completely from the game. I only got to test it once, and only had 2 people in the game, but there was no crash in 20+ minutes. I will test it with a lotta people tonight and see if I can get a crash.

It could be my new terrain, or something conflicting somewhere !!did I divide by zero?!! but this just sprung up after adding the items. If it was that one specific item, should I post and vouch that it can create game crashes? (I dont wanna dis a model unless there is really something wrong with it)

I don't think it's possible for models to crash the game unless they have a ridiculously high poly count, in which case they'll just cause the game to freeze, they won't cause any critical error, desync or anything like that.

So yeah, it's almost definitely not the models' fault. There must be something wrong with the items.

Divide by zero errors don't cause a game crash, they simply cause the thread to crash (no more code in the trigger will be run).

Actually a model can crash the game, there was a Captain Ginyu model that wasn't properly made for Warcraft 3 so when ever he gets picked in the map he crashes it lol.

it has already been made a point that no triggers have been added to the map between the time that it worked, and the time that it didnt work. No triggers changed, nothing.

The tileset and doodads have been changed, and these attachments have been added to items. I dont think it would matter, but because of the max number of stats on an item being 4, I had to make spellbooks for a lot of different items. The item attachments arent in the spellbooks though (not that it should matter)

a link to the item, one of the posters says that it may cause game crashes. It played no large role in my map, so if that IS the problem, then i am glad it is something small. I'm about to go do a series of testing, i will post the results.
