This tutorial will teach you how to create and use your own Backgrounds.
Note:This tutorial is medium-hard so take your time studying it and have patience.
Needed:
Skinning capabilities
Modeling capabilities
Some registry knowledge
First of all you need the picture you want to add to background , and if you want to create special effects and create depth and dimensions to it just start photoshop and edit it in the way you want.
After you are done with it , if you have a complicated image with different things like cliffs , fires , water etc. you should take your time to try to transform it into a good skin and the positions of the different parts need to go perfectly in order for the end model to look perfect.
Before starting the next level , the modeling , make sure you transform the skin into .blp format.
After you are done with this part, go into the model editor you are using and start creating the model. If you are using a simple image with no depth , dimension and animation you can simply create a cube or a simple model sheet , and after you are done with that start adding the skin, then save the model into .mdx format.
When you are done with creating the model that will be used as your background you need the two circled items in the picture below.
in the UI folder add the model and leave it there.
When you are done , go to Start->Run->Cmd and in the command prompter write there:
-Press enter and now you should see a blue command prompter.
When you are in this stage you should now save the registry file as normal , and on your desktop. After saving you should now a registry file named "Background" on your desktop.
To edit it open it with a Text Editor like Notepad or better still Notepad++ and write in the registry file:
-Then click File-Save
There you are done when you want to add the new background you just need to run the registry file than by now i think you know should be placed along with the model in the Warcraft III folder.
Important note:This method has not yet been tested as it was intended , if you test it please send feedback in this thread, thanks.
