Crashing

If you had the unprotected map would that help?
No it would not help at all. I need the game source code which Blizzard owns. Even then it would require you to be able to accurately re-create the crash to debug it properly as different builds have different stack alignment due to optimizations.

With the map I could only look for possible common causes (off edge units etc).

And would you have the time and interest to look through it?
Not if it cannot be re-created or only happened once. It would need to be pretty common to find it this way.

Crashes usually occur as a result of something happening. For example a trigger firing. In very big maps it can be hard to find out what exactly causes it but knowing the run-up to the crash can help.
