Hi. My brother's computer "Dell Dimension 5150" shuts down and starts on random moments. For example, when he's asleep, it just starts and wakes him up. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware malfunctioning. If you have any idea what's wrong or if you have a suggestion, please post it here.

First off, try removing the CMOS battery for 15 minutes, then putting it back in, it resets the motherboard BIOS incase it was corrupted. The CMOS Battery is the flat "Button battery" on the main board.

It might also be a PSU issue, try putting the PSU from it into another computer, although make sure it is a standard ATX spec, sometimes Dell uses non-spec things to prevent customization.

It does not seem to be an OS problem, but you could try reinstalling it too if the other solutions don't work.

Remember to ground yourself
