There will be a lot more then just terrain..lol...

1st: 4 system added :(New save system)
(arrow movement key system)
(Spell system)
(Bag System)

-custom model,skin & spell

-6 basic class + more

-mostly each quest will come with a cinematic movie

-story line

-Cool boss's

-Dongeon traps

and a lot more!

Will there be custom item looks? Such as custom Icons, if so, use bags for as much as you can to decrease file size, because this map looks fun, hotass terrain, and, doesn't WEU offer arrow movement key system? If you loose at the Map File on Triggers, you can see a huge list, full of Jass Triggers. . .

wow, Zarltok don't heed those idiots who say it looks crappy. They are just jealus losers, that map looks AWESOME and the only ever wc3 terrain that I have seen that rivals that is that Blizzard made winter-waterfall cinematic thingy, but still. Yeah could you please post it cuz i REALLY wanna play it!!!! looks soo cool. One suggestion is taht if you lock the screen it may be wise to allow for unlocking it and moving wit the mouse, as i know MANY who would be annoyed by it after a while. Anyways sick game, and good luck making it!!!

Props to the good terrain, BUT I have a question, is this going to be a single player or multiplayer RPG?

If its single then forget I asked the question.

If its multiplayer, then you might have to be slightly less detailed with the terrain or you'll go over the max map size for bnet (In my RPG map just one detailed area added about 100KB for some reason :shock: ) so don't get TOO detailed :) leave room for other things to make it funner.

Well still,, nc terrain on my opinion.

But I won't know if your triggers, jobs, units, imported materials, or any other things are nc too so, I still can't say it is a great map..

to answers your questions

sgt_johnson : it is multiplayer map and i still didnt decide if i should put 2 different team....
2 players for choas side = stronger heros =match the story line

6 players into the cristal city (good side)

and i thought to make it that the 2 evil heros will have to go track and kill 1 of the good side heros to retreive a special item

i think making quest that will match both team
and a lot of specific quest for each team

but i still dont know if it would be better to have 1 team or 2 team because there is a save system...maybe some people will be to uber to be stoped

and the map reached the doodads limit a long time ago
i think it was 9837 or something like that...
now i got over 16000 doodads into the map and im using World Editor Unlimited so i extended the map to 480 x 480 size (EXTREMLY HUGE)

but to answer your 2nd question

the map size as almost reached the limit

im about 3.4 mb
but im happy that doodads take about nothing :)

anyways if im sure that ill reach the limit before i finalise but no matter... i have maybe tomany models so il be deleting 1 or 2

and when the map is complete...i will make a extended map to complete the rpg with the 2dn part of story.
my idea is to be able to load your previous heros from the other map and only a specific level will be able to play the map

expemple: when u enter the second map game... u will have a door to open and only hero with the specific level or higher will be able to open it and continue the rpg

Just to let everyone know, i'm part of this map, and Zarltok and I tested it out, and its the most amazing map ever.... it's not just like a normal Wc3 RPG... its like a real RPG, like everquest or something like that, and its the most original Wc3 game ever... so I hope everyone likes it :D

For some reason when I saw that screenshot of the greenish pillars on the wall with the statues and where the infernal is standing in the middle, I imagined playing, and for some strange reason I heard the first 8 seconds of the song "Rabbit in the Headlights" by Radiohead, where it's this really calm, cool piano with some electronic shit, and it jsut seemed soo cool, becasue that sound suited that area so much.

I am NOT on drugs.

lets just hope your smart and you include a file for the custome mods. If not it not worth downloading. Since I've dled about a million campaigns and most of them diden't work and ended up with an error saying cutsommodel@@ missing....

That is one hell of a detailed map and I praise your seemingly endless patients for your work.
Don't really like RPGs myself but I still think it'll be an awesome map.


Now just a few questions:

(Due to my recent uptake of making a Arathi Basin map I'm just wondering how you overcome the seemingly endless problems [most of which I have overcome one way or another, my map will be out in a week or so :D... publicity...] and I have answers for most but just seeing how others overcome [not trying to sound superior or anything :p])

Im assuming by the icons in the pictures that you can still move via clicking, so how you stopped the unit from running off and attacking nearby enemy units?

When you use an ability and you still have the up key pressed down, do you still keep running or do you stop and have to repress?

I also see you use custom models in your map, was there a reason for this or did you jsut want different models in your map?

Finally, does you camera auto adjust to changes of height in the ground and if so how'd you do that? (A problem I have yet to not be forced to the brink of kicking everything around me trying to fix)

to answer your questions:

1st: whe did set up (disable auto attacking)because if u move with arrow and ur beside a ennemy it will auto attack and that sucks so we did modifications

2nd: when u hit a spell while u moving at front with arrow.. it will stop movement to cast spell
(still trying to figure out how to let them move while your casting (like WoW)

3rd: for models.... i saw wc3 models in 3d and not all of them are nice... i use custom models for hero and some fiew bosses (+ they have custom animation)
-they look a lot nicer and i prefert adding new things into a wc3 map

4th: for the camera... its a big pain in the ass...
when u go over a bridge or cliff it stays on the 1st level height but everything is fixable for that
atless for now... in the rpg... all of these little camera bugs are fixed :)(but pain in the ass)

and ill set 3-4 different camera view for a 3rd person because sometimes the camera will go trought a wall or a buidling so ill set different distance
( ill even try to add a view for ( World View )

ill put mount attachments

it can be a lot funner if u ride a wolf or a horse to arrive faster to a destination

and i still didnt decide if i should put a air mount
(just liKE WoW) exemple:you use a dragon to ride around the map but it will auto direct u to a station
(to switch Destinations even faster)


-and about the spell system

me and my main partner did a spell system that i usefull rpgs

1st:if u can see on the pictures... there is a purple cristal ball below the hero icon

in specific places around the rpg(looks like a big plate on the ground) u can set up your spells

but u can't purshase spells if your off the plates
and if u notice beside upkeep (pictures) there is a number of
5/5 or 7/7 w/e

thats is your current level and the ammount of spell u can purshase

but the coolest thing we did is:

-u can reset your spells while your on a plate incase you have a better strategy to do or relearn other spells

-each Proffesion as different spell books
exp:

fighter : warrior skills

archer : range skills

sorceress : magic skills

ect.

so they will have about 20 to 50 spell for each prof.

and 2 to 5 unique books around the rpg world

ill try to compact the most things possible into my map...

i want to release something that it as never been seen before

specially terrain :)

and to answer your question Xandramas

it wont be a rpg just for killing stuff
every hero will have a function to filled up in the map(the story) the game contains traps and cinematic to present the bosses or the worlds they will have lots of suprises...

ive even thought to make mini games like exemple

imagine a hero that runs into a trap and a bolder is rolling (Indiana jones) to catch u up and the camera view will change for good interaction
(try to stay alive)

ive made a mini dota sequence as u can see on pictures...( the game will almost start with that sequence right away soon that u leave the cristal city

to give u instant action when u start the game :)

just to tell u.... there is so much things i need to add... there is alot more then imports and terrain....

to bring some action

like i said they will have lots of system

-spell -bag -save/load -movement - food system


its hard to explain exaclywhat contains the rpg

because it still in progress...

but ill put my max on it

Okay , I can add anti leak jass codes to your map, send me link per pm please.

Hint: Now 0.4[8] is available! More balanced , better gameplay , with automatic jass debugger , changed icon and abilitystrengh , added more tooltips , fixed tooltips , debuged ar command , computers now buy a repearman.

I was just cruisin' the wc3sear.ch takin' a look at skins when it dawned on me.

We should hold a contest at some point to find the best "skin" for the High Soma (Yllara). Who ever wins would get a credit in the game for coming up with the look of the High Soma. This character will be seen and heard from in many instances in the game and would 'cause a great amount of fame for the artist throughout WC3.

The only reqs I would place on the character would be that she look pure, wise, magical, almost holy, and in her mid 20's. No new models may be used... only custom skins.

What we need is people that want to be involved in something great. Something that hasn't been seen before. The preview pics that we're providing are "PREVIEW" pics and do not compare to the feel of the game.

What we're actually putting together is something previously unheard of in WC3. The gameplay is amazing, the art is amazing, the story is amazing, the programming is amazing, the items are amazing, the spells are amazing, the multiplayer is amazing, the cinematics are amazing, the massive battles are amazing, the endless adventure is amazing, the save system.. well.. that part is still a pain in tha ass.

What you have to realize, is that most of us that are working on "Project Soma" have been playing WC3 since its inception and have played every popular custom game thats ever been hosted... just like you.
So dont ask us redundant questions on things that have been solved years ago... or issues that have been over-come a million times over by hundreds of editors and map makers. The creators of this game know what needs to be done to make it great, and "looks" is just a small taste of what you can expect. Surely you can't think that we'ld spend so much time on art if there wasn't any substance behind it.
