I know how you can change a model's texture (through this tutorial), however I need something more subtle, something like Grom Hellscream's Stand Second animation where the chaos skin is overlayed on top of the normal green skin smoothly rather than abruptly swapping.
Basically I need a smooth morph animation for a custom hay model, like hay -> infected hay.

Any idea how to do this?

Add the infected hay layer to your material that contains the normal hay layer.
Make the alpha animated.
Put in values.

If you don't know how to do it, just look at the Hellscream model and how it is done there (find the material that contains 3 layers, and check the 3rd one).
