I play Warcraft III at ~25-30 fps
Theres your problem, by the sounds of it your PC is pushed to its limits as it is playing 7 year old content.

On top of that pyritie is making a game in a slow and unefficent language (for speed realted computing, its ok for general computational solving of tasks) using a highly demanding graphic engine (the engine can do a lot more than he uses it for so it is not optimized for his use). Logically it will not work well.

Some understanding of your specs would help him debug what is bottleknecking it, but I doubt he even cares (if he did he would have used C).

I am using JNI so even writing the whole thing in C would not make it much faster than it is now.

I think it's mostly because I'm using so much transparency and Ogre wasn't really made to handle that. It is a 3D engine after all and most 3D models do not have very much transparency.

Next to the fact it would not have to load the whole java run time environment to start and all code could be compiled to be optimum efficency (do not think th java does everything as fast as possible).

Well then complain to the makers, as even WC3 uses hellish ammounts of transpariency, from billboards to water to water elementals. to firelords.

You must remember that he has litterally used a plug together approcah at programming for his game, you can not expect it to run that well (think of GTA4 which also used the same approach and how it is one of the most demanding games ever made). I am sure if he built it from the ground up as optionally as possible, there could be major speed improvements (especially 3D wise as like he said the alpha is probably not being accelerated properly).

Anyway, this still does not make up for the fact that you run WC3 at substandard speed.

Look at your post...you stated there that your connection is very slow only about 1.2mb/sec ... now count...if the cell game has got 24 mb , how fast will you download it?
in other words...to most of others it took around 5 mins...so please dont troll with that your connection is slow...

Can people please stop showing off their insanly fast connections, there are already 2 threads doing that.

With 1 mb/sec the game would dl in seconds, so do not bother saying it takes long.

People in the UK like me are stuck at 300 KB/sec average max DL with it occasionally peeking for a few secs to 800 KB/sec while a peer to peer speed of 16 KB/sec DL (yes 16 not 160 or 16000) during the day. Yes I mean KB/sec not kbps (1 KB/sec = 8 kbps).

When I was at home I could get speeds of around 50-60kB/s. It all depends on how many seeds you have :p

lol my fps was too high :) i didn't have any problems, you're game is compatible with windows 7 too, cuz i'm running windows 7^^

good until it goes over 100 FPS ---> thenyour monitor must give more frames then it should ----> 1.more electricity 2.danger of destroying monitor >.<

lol'd

Your screen's refresh rate is fixed :p Can't change that

What it's basically telling you is how many frames it's rendering per second. It'll still only show frames at the speed of your monitor though.

- You only get 20 antibodies. Press "0" to reset (this is because of a work in progress of antibodies disappearing after a few seconds, giving you more)
- added an enemy. Press 1 on your numpad to make it appear (Num lock might have to be turned on)
- the enemy might go through itself for now but that won't matter once I get the enemy to move around by itself
- spent a while reorganizing class structure/hierarchy
- antibodies are no longer recycled. Was getting to be too much of a hassle for only a very slight performance increase
- few other changes

All computers in my university in the computer science deparment are using vista, and probably 7 in the comming years.

People are just ignorant if they think there were major problems with them as my vista and W7 experience has had no faults what so ever. Yes I would not trust dated hardware with 7 or especially vista, but for anything new there is no reason not to get it (unless you are some strange linux or mac fan in which case you probably do not need a modern top range PC.
