So you just removed his weapons and made some new ones?
Well, I suggest to remove his weapons and save, now import him back into the map..
Redo your weapons, but only your weapons in your model program, rotate them in the right direction, and save them as well, and now just attach them, should defenitly work..

else I would download some claws, there are some cool ones out there =)
just remove the normal weapons of the troll..

You have to attach it to the same vertex group as the hand as well. Select his right hand and check what vertex group it is (vertex group of selection, I think...), then change the selection mode to add, select the hand and assign the vertex group to whatever the right hand was using.
