No.

If you want to change abilities, you'll need to make some system that adds abilities to the unit when an item is picked up.

That goes beyond the power of the humble trigger editor. However, you can always "replace" items. For example, you have Orb of Frost and want to replace it with Orb of Fire, it's possible!
