Can the bottom control bar be minimized?

I was wondering if the bottom bar that shows your inventory, abilities, map, stats, etc be minimized or changed to give you a bigger screen view of the map? are there any mods for this?

Below is a picture of what I mean. That bottom control bar takes quite a bit of the full screen display.

No, that's not possible. The most part of the lower screen border is not even rendered.

The only thing where you can gain a little more game screen space is by modifying the UI HUD. For that take a look here.
