Maybe warcraft 3 needs a fun theme park and then you can build your own rollercoaster where you build your own track and then your rollercoaster follows the tracks you built and you can have other players ride it :D
or um.. eh is this just impossible?

well camera could um have a angle and 1st person view and tilt when you go at curve and instead of building just some ride the camera can lock to coaster and it just follows a track already been made..

The camera wouldn't be the hard part. In order for your idea to work, it would require creating models that have pathing. That would eliminate the ability to create twists and loops in the roller coaster. Everyone would have the same limited choices of models to use, which would make it blunt. And I don't think there is a way to change the height of terrain in game, which might be essential if you were to leave the players with any sort of creativity. That's just the multiplayer side to it.

A cinematic would be heaps easier to do, but I don't think the outcome would be as nice considering you would have to create a load of models to actually make it look like a roller coaster ride.

In conclusion, the possibility might exist to create such a map, but the complexity wouldn't be worth it. There are so many better maps to make that would require 1/1000th of the time to make the game of which you speak.

Actualy to create a roler coaster system would be easy but the track would be IMPOSSIABLE.

You have to use Waypoints which could be buildable.
You then link one Waypoint to another and set a hight of which to meat.
Once an infinate loop of track has been created it will allow could allow you to ride it.
The twists and loops would be randomly generated as the car moves along and would be easy to trigger as a cinimatic path.

Ofcourse this idea would mean you have a HUGE BLANK PATH but its the best i can think of now I will reply if I think of any more ideas.

If what you say about being able to build waypoints is true, then someone could create a gryphon ride map. It would be a whole lot easier too considering the models in game would fit the concept and, as you say, the tracks would be impossible.

I still think it would be difficult to do nonetheless.

Well, there is a way you could do it. If you create the track models and add an animation that makes the coaster appear and move, it can be done. Although, again, it wouldn't be worth getting into. Timing it so it works perfectly isn't worth your trouble.

Another idea I thought of requires you to create a rolercoaster track modle and a loop de loop modle.

Like above it will use waypoints which are basicaly a small tower which you can set some setting on.

Once a loop has been achived it creates the track segements inbetween the waypoints.
To make the curves smooth and not point to point it will have a so called velocity curve system which once it meets the waypoint it will start to bend towards the next waypoint creating a smooth curve.

After thats done it will randomly generate fetures where possiable.
Forexample If the number of segments is greater than 8 inbetween a waypoint it will have a chance to make a 360 spin or a loop de loop which will use custom modles.

For the camera path it could use a que list where as the fetures are randomly generated it stores a time atwich it will reach the feture and then run a certain camera action like a 360 spin when that time has passed when riding the coaster.

This method is about the best available and does not include track curving on corners or even a graffic coaster trains but the track and camera would make it look like a real coaster as best as possiable.

The griffion rider system would be very easy to make and could be made in a day by a pro jasser.

ok here is what you do.

create several models. normal track, loop, cork whatever.

In the code, have the "car" follow each of these models and when they get into range of the next track depending on the type it will then complete the given action.

A vertical loop is possible and a horizontal loop is possible with flight height animation changes.

but crossing tracks might be tough but still possible.

i beleive this would be possible but very BUGGY!
