[Campaign] The Last Sa'rin (SCRAPPED)

My apologies, but due to lack of help and interest, this project has been scrapped for the time being. If enough people show interest in the project and wish to help out, it may get finished eventually. But for now, it is dead. Sorry.

The Last Sa'rin is a Death & Destruction production. We currently need more people to help. More info can be found at the bottom of this post.

Introduction:

The Last Sa'rin will be a Turn-based, Single Player RPG. You play as Argan, who is a Sa'rin. There will be a few more characters that will assist you in battle, also, just like in the old RPGs.

Gameplay Info:

We will have many features in this game that will give it a true RPG feel, but will also retain a certain level of uniqueness, such as our Fullscreen inventory, which allows you to hold many more items than you normally could in WC3.

The World:

First of all, the World Map is going to be MASSIVE and will be spread out on at LEAST 6 different 256x256 maps (The 480x480 maps from NewGen caused a multitude of problems), which will be navigable between each other in a logical way. The World Map can be seen here. Note, this is a very poor drawing that I did in about 5 mins in MS Paint. This will just give a basic idea of what the world map looks like.

The world map is only the tip of the iceberg, however, as certain areas in the game will also be ordered as submaps. For instance, Center City is so big, that it gets its own submap. Other areas will also be placed as Submaps as well, which will make the game seem much more like the old-style RPGs (Like for instance, FFVII), and enlarge the game even farther.

Travel:

First of all, to move, you will be using the Arrow keys. This allows you to use your mouse for other duties, such as checking the road signs for directions, or interacting with NPCs without the worry of accidentally moving.

There will also be a couple of different ways to speed up your travels. For one, the player will get a "mount" that will make navigating the World Map much easier. There are also boats that can take you from place to place for a fee. There may be other methods as well.

Battle System:

We will be implementing a Turn-based battle system simillar to those in older RPG games. There will be a lot of similarities, but also some differences that will give it more of a unique feeling. For instance, the way the abilities are shown are as abilities in WC3 are shown (The bottom-right corner). This is a WIP, so expect this to be changed as the progression of the campaign moves on.

Additionally, you will control 3 characters in battle at once. However, we will be adding in a way to swap out characters when desired. This, along with the Magic system will allow for a great deal of customization amongst the characters in a game.

We also have a system that allows you to randomly be encountered by enemies while walking around in the world. There are safe areas, like cities, but for the most part, anywhere you go will carry the danger of being attacked.

Story:

The Sa'rin are an ancient order that was founded some thousand years ago or so. Nobody knows for sure the exact date of its founding.

The Order of the Sa'rin were basically a highly organized group of mercenaries. They would be hired by kingdoms to fight for them, or even to do more mundane tasks such as police the streets, or to settle small disputes. The Sa'rin would not kill another Sa'rin, no matter the circumstances.

The Sa'rin were basically Samurai who had honed their skills so well, that they were able to get in touch with the Soul of the Earth, allowing them to perform magical abilities, and thus enhancing their already fearsome power.

However, when the Neverending Rains started, a chain of coincidences led the higher powers (That is, the Governmental Council) to believe that they had caused the Neverending Rains. Therefore, they unanimously voted that the Sa'rin should be eradicated. Within 5 years of this order being issued, each kingdom had (in its own manner) disposed of every last Sa'rin. Furthermore, the wielding and making of swords was outlawed, and any violation carried swift, powerful, and irrevocable punishments to the violator AND their family.

However, there remained one Sa'rin, who had managed to hide well enough that everyone presumed him dead. But he is far from it...

Argan (The Last Sa'rin) has made it his life's goal to find out the true cause of the Neverending Rains, because he does not believe that the Sa'rin had anything to do with it.

Quests:

The focus of The Last Sa'rin is definitely on the Storyline. The main Storyline revolves mainly on Argan and his mission to find out what REALLY caused the Neverending Rains. However, the other characters have their own background stories that can be fully explored as well.

The main Storyline will consist of a multitude of quests that will allow you to explore this vast world. You will see places and people, laugh and cry, and really follow the characters throughout the storyline.

There will also be even more side-quests. Some will ultimately tie back to the main storyline to enhance it even more. Some will reveal the background of the characters, areas, or even just a general history. Then there are completely unrelated side-quests that will help you level or just give you a feeling of goodwill.

Boss Battles:

There will be several boss battles throughout the game that will test your abilities and skills. There are a wide variety of Bosses ranging from animals to humans and everything in-between.

Not all bosses are to be "fought" in the turn-based combat system, though...

Help!

We are currently in need of more help for this project. It is being done on such a massive scale, that the team needs to be expanded, or the project may become too overwhelming and take forever to get finished (if it ever does).

We currently need:

Terrainer(s)
Advance Triggerer (GUI or JASS)
Cinematic Director
Modeller(s)

If you are interested in joining the team, please go here or PM me. It would be a HUGE help if you can join us in vent to talk. Vent is required, though a mic is optional (though recommended). If you ask to help in this thread, it may take a little longer for me to reply. Please be patient. If you wish to know more about each position, feel free to pm me.

For Modellers:

You do not have to join the team (Though it would be neat if you would, ^^) to make a model for this project. Thank you to the person who pointed this out to me. :)

Models:

What we need right now is a young woman (Looking maybe 18-20ish; human) with long black hair that goes halfway down her back (Hairstyle otherwise is up to you) with some clothes of the "Lower-middle class" kind (In medieval terms: Good quality woolish, perhaps?) Color and style is up to you, though I would like her to be decently clothed (Nothing too skimpy please). Her weapon of choice is a Bo Staff. Animations are at your discretion. +Rep and full Credit will be given. If you need further information, pm me.

Additionally: ANY requests for beta testing will be ignored at this point in time. Please do not waste our time in asking to be a beta tester until it is said that we are taking testers.

Progress (5% increments):

Screenshots:

In order from Left to Right, they are: Mountain camp, Forest Entrance, Farmer Wiggo's Farm, Center City Entrance. All from the Central Adra World Map, which is not completed. (Minimap has been blacked out since it won't be available in-game)
