If I recall, it's removing some editor only data, of which I can't remember what extensions that can be disposed for maps to play but inaccessible through editor.
Protecting a single player campaign seems kind of pointless. Especially seeing how it is not really protected at all, only damaged to make WE unable to open it.
No matter what you do it will still be open-able in MPQ editors and people can still extract and edit the files.
