That should help you a lot. I don't get the green stuff, and I think you should have left that out. It looks more like an infected Petri dish right now. But also, water orb is not really that creative, since we have a bunch of those icons already, so you should maybe try to make some more creative orb.

Sorry if I don't seem to be nice, but the Mana Shield icon fits better as a water orb. Also, it is too big. Either make the background black or make that thing smaller. Define the icon from the background, because as of now there is little difference between the orb and the background.



EDIT: Now what you did looks more like plain water with seaweeds. It should be more solid.

-Please don't use white backgrounds, use black.
-This is no orb, yet a oval, make it more rounded.
-To me, inside the orb looks more like blue snakes instead of "ocean"

Rating Field Rating Explanation Creativity 2/5 This icon is a creative idea, if you could get the concept down correctly, and convey what you are attempting to create properly. Freehand Work 5/5 It's quite obvious that this is freehand work, and not a copy and paste Icon, but I will ask to see the large version of the image, if you don't mind. Execution 2/5 You had the right idea going, but as The Panda said, the orb is not orb shaped. An orb is spherical, not an oval. I recommend trying to find a way to convey the ocean inside a glass or, sort of like the Orb of Fire in Warcraft III, which I believe you were aiming for that type of feel. If you can manage to get the orb to stand out a bit more, and get the image of the ocean better conveyed, you will have a much better chance of getting this approved. Color Flow 1/5 The colors do not blend well together. Yes, you tried to smudge them together, but it still has very hard outlines, which is what makes this icon NOT look like an "Orb of Ocean". Overall Rating 2/5 Needs Work: You have great potential in this icon, if you can execute it properly, and once done correctly, it will look great. I have seen far worse made icons as a first icon. That is a plus. I recommend looking through some tutorials in the Tutorials Section, to try and learn to blend colors, and to learn to convey your imaginations which you want to put into images.
