I originally made this icon for a request, but saw it's use as a resource. It is designed to be a hero/unit icon for TDR's excellent Ice Demon skin found here on the hive.

Thank you. The creature concept is not my idea, it is TDR's. I just made the icon for it to fulfil a hive member's request, and then decided that I liked the skin so much that I'd put a bit of effort in to create an icon with a little more character ( ie. I think it is based on the unbroken model so considering the face has no animation I thought I'd open the mouth ;P )

You can search the skin forum for TDR's Ice Demon if you'd like to compare it's likeness and/or use them in conjunction... I didn't link the skin directly because it's up to TDR's discretion to whether he wants his work associated with this or not.

well no it's not exactly freehand... I used a screenshot as a base for proportions and then did a painted layer over the top. I don't think screenshots of models look good as icons, they need to be hand drawn to fit in with the rest of warcrafts icons. At the same time tho I wanted to keep it looking as much like the model as I can, and it's much faster and more accurate to work off a good reference layer. If you check out the skin you'll see it's more then just a CnP

No, just your standard 3 button microsoft mouse lol.

I keep my left hand hovering over ctrl+z (undo) the whole time when I draw anything, because it's hard to get the perfect line when you draw with such a crappy mouse. I just persevere through it tho, and with enough quick strokes and ctrl+z's I get it looking how I want :gg:
