Blood Elf Arcane Guardian

"These arcane constructs of Blood Elf design were originally intended to be used as sentries that would supplement the guards of Silvermoon City in it's defense. However, as their size allows them to strike more than one opponent, the Blood Elves have also recently began using them in more offensive situations. The construction methods of these Arcane Guardians were since refined to give them increased durability, despite their slow movement. They can also be upgraded further to give them increased resistance to spell-based attacks, as well as giving them immunity to certain spells."

My take on a canonical Blood Elven... thing. The original design is obviously from World of Warcraft. I couldn't find a suitable texture that would make it look similar to the WoW version, so I had to make do with creating what looks like an armoured version of it. The model itself was modified from the Iron Golem because, well... it's just a suitable enough base. The forearms and feet were borrowed from the Mountain Giant and then modified to better fit the model.

This model uses ingame textures, so no need to worry about texture paths. The model also does not require a portrait since there was one already built-in from when I edited it. As a result, this model should be very easy to import!

If you want to use this model then feel free to do that, provided that you'll give credit to me in return.

UPDATE 1:
Updated as per moderator's request. Changes include...

- New death sound, with corresponding particle effects.
- The built-in portrait now has a talking animation.
- Tweaked animations, bones and meshes so that there is less clipping issues between the arm gemstones and elbows. The legs should hopefully look less odd as well.

UPDATE 1.5:
Tweaked the Portrait Talk animation.

UPDATE 2:
Recalculated extents and made portrait glow unselectable.

Misha: this model looks pretty cool and functions well, however, there are a few things that bother me, his death should be more like some arcane explosion sound and the metal golem's crumble combined, also his elbows kinda clip in the rubies that make his upper arm. lower parts of his thighs kinda move away from the center of the lower legs, which also makes it a bit odd.. and, you could have him use at least one speak animation with that blue part on his helm pulsing as 'speaking'

good job

While I'm not in the mode of making a Blood Elf race, this is almost a requirement for one. That being said, nothing drives me crazier than having a "must-have" unit and the only available model for it is sucky. So thank you; this is great. I love the TC crystals, the armor is quite blood-elven, and the magicky-visor is solid. The Mountain Giant hands/feet was a nice touch, definitely.

Although, looking at the screenshot; seems rather diminuitive, ain't he? I mean, if that's a normal BE Worker, then this guy is mighty short.

It's easy enough to edit the model and the Blood Elf Hero skin to make all the red parts work as team color. Then simply being a blue player would make it look high elven. Probably the only iffy part would be getting permission to edit the model.

But the real question is.... got some icons for this? lol

Now now, Hardy... You of all people should know that Scaling only works so far. Scale too much and the shadow, selection circle, and HP bar are all skeewompus, too. :p

lol you of all people...

My mega gnome was hideous masterpiece.... ;)

EDIT: However on topic it does seem to be about the size of a small mud golem (I think that is the smallest golem they have in the original game) and all of those can scale fine to at least the size of a granite golem (which is the biggest I believe) so it should be fine ;), and you can change selection circle size, shadow I got nothing for, I just like to sass :ogre_hurrhurr:
