Hi guys.
As you all know, I make icons and i'm not bad (imo).
But what I find the hardest thing to do is giving the icon the "blizzard feel".
Making your icon warcraftish and such. So i've started on an icon and i'd like your oppinion and how you'd make it more warcraftish :).
thanks
PS: this is a WIP.

strong and light colors. Your icon is too dark for the blizzard feeling right now.
You have to give the whole thing a cartoon look.
And if I´m correct then you should also try to avoid small details like this light lines in your icon but concentrate more on adding bigger details. You should also avoid to be monotonous at using colors because your icons is just golden right now

this 3 icons by blizzard show what I mean:
BTNINV_Axe_09 - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site
BTNAbility_Warrior_SavageBlow - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site
BTNAbility_Warrior_ShieldWall - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site

Colour variation. If you look at Blizzard icon's, you'll see that they don't just use one hue and shift shades, they change the hue as well, with warm highlights and blue-ish shadows et cetera. Also, avoid leaving black spaces everywhere, like in this icon. I do it all the time as well, but it's BAD. D:

Just take a look at Samwises style, since he is the art director (apparently) over warcraft games like 3+, his style has been implemented as the main style for the game pretty much.

go here:
Sons of the Storm
and follow the links to his Gallery.
Observe his work, both sketches, pre drawings and final drawings. Look at his older ones since they have the wc3 style while his newer ones have his Wow (blendy whooshy) style.

I suggest doing it in vectors and give it a sort of simple look, also a thing black line around most of the object would help.
