[Icon] Blizzard-like?

I don't know to make my icons look blizzard made. Some icons looks great but next to war3 icons they look weird. How can I improve my icons so they will fit into war3 theme and won't look strange. If that can help you, I use gimp to make my icons.

Blizzard icons use simplicity to get the point across. Not too much detail but enough that it is easy to recognize the purpose of the icon. Blizzard icons also use as much space as possible. They also make good use of color. For instance: blue colors for icons relating to mana, yellow for holy icons, red for offense/damage, and green for death.

I think the Feral Spirit icon is a good example. It is purple so that you can tell it has something to do with shadow/dark magic. The easily distinguishable wolf fills up most of the icon and has few details/linework.
