So how do I change this blinking cursor to the normal one? It suddenly changed like that and it's annoying to type with it.

It's and underline instead of a vertical blinking cursor.

Yup. Holdover from ye olde days of computers, where overtype (which replaces text instead) was the default. Everyone uses insert mode these days for everything, and the key's mostly obsolete and often just used as a hotkey.
