I read a post that is saying to have a larger map than 256x256 you got to have NewGen/JNPG.

Im worried if I use it, it will mess up my world editor and some errors or something would appear. I would like to have information on what does programs like NewGen do?

If there is another thing/program for increasing map size mention it here.

NewGen is fine and safe to use. It also disables a lot more than just map size limitations (infinite doodad placement, etc).

read chapter 1 in here to get set up with NewGen

I think every map maker should be using NewGen. Plain WE is crap.

Currently they lack to make updates, so certain WE features such as hashtable is unusable in newgen. So don't agree if they keep failing to update for new versions of the editor.
