Hello everybody.
This started as a multiplayer map that, thinking about it, kinda combined DotA and Hero Arenas. But when I reformatted my computer map making was the last thing on my mind, and the triggers on the map suddenly disappeared. Long story short, I'm making a campaign.
I have no screenshots yet, but when I do I'll update this post.
The work has just begun, I'm still learning to import files. The very basic terraining of the tutorial is finished, the plot has a tutorial, a rough middle, and a pretty well planned ending. But I really don't want to release much about the storyline. I'm open to talking about gameplay though.
The idea is it's a First Person Shooter type game. It's set in the near future. A war broke out in 2005(has nothing to do when work started on any of the maps) and the alliances have both merged into 2 large countries. You play as the protagonist, a soldier in the military who has received the highest possible training available in the military.
The tutorial is your first mission, which is pretty routine.
Also, your "friends of the academy" will join you if you decide to play LAN, although the feasibility of this relies on the max file size for playing LAN campaigns.
I plan on releasing a "demo" which would be the tutorial level, but I can't until the weapons system and the camera are working properly, and then I have to finish the map. I can then release it as a single demo for everyone to try.
Multiplayer:
I will be sending out Multiplayer maps alongside the standalone campaign.
Including but not Limited to:
Capture the Flag
"Slayer"
Team "Slayer"
Battlefront: First Edition, which is Battlefront before I decided to make a campaign
Progress:
Tutorial/Demo Map: 50%
Weapons System: 0%
Custom Models Imported: 5%-10%
Overall Campaign Terraining: 1%
Plot Written: 20%
Cinematics: .5%
Voice Acting: 0%
I would really like to add many custom models and voice files. Since mrchewy informed me that Campaigns can not be played on LAN, this means I do not have to worry as much about file size. The voices will be for the opening and ending as well as for tidbits throughout the game. It'll feel like Cortana from the original Halo, just kinda guiding you mid-mission.
