balance help

i've started a map but im having problems with equally balancing ghoul, grunts, arches and footmen. as the first combat unit for each race i would like each team to have an equal "army" but, well im stuck. can anyone offer some insight?
Or
would it be easier to alter the damage, health etc on said units?

work it out with ratios, remember that archers have a distance attack advantage and so should have less health. ghouls should be strong with good hp and attack but less armour and speed. footmen have balanced with even everything. grunts should are the hardest because they should be strong fast and have high hp but little armour. you work it all out
