What's the easiest and still somehow reliable damage detector an amateur like me can use for his map? (1.29c)

As unfortunate as it is, I barely know anything about triggers. Making my map is simply a hobby, and I dont know anything about programming. However, I do know how to make basic triggers in the Trigger Editor, but those attack event triggers are unreliable and can ruin a game. The "Event - Unit is attacked" isnt really a good "event" to use. Someone told me, that if I am going to make abilities where attacks have a chance to cast a spell, like chain lightning or entangling roots, its better to use damage detectors. Thanks!
