My question is how to apply attachments like the ones available on this site (sword, wings, etc.) I have never done it before and would appreciate a step by step explanation if possible or a link to a good tutorial.
 
O.k you import the attachment in world edit.Than make sure you use the right path e.g(it all ways says warimport or somthing change it to something like Texture\CaptainsSword\CaptainsSword.blp)

when youvce got that done save world edit and restart it (re open)
Than go to the same map and go to create trigger,make and action trigger called create speciall affect make it so it says create on unit.
make it set to the unit you want(and change over head to right arm or head or left hand.
make the model =to your imported mxd.
no test the map and it should work.
