I think your best bet is using a WoW port and giving them a gun attachment model in game.

If you do go the WoW export route, the online version of this tool makes it dead simple. You can Google for wowhead pages of guns you want, go into the dressing room, make the character look how you want, and then export them with the URL (might need to explicitly add the gun URL in the attached item section).

Be sure to pick 800 model type for SD, and don't be afraid to play around with the options, like the speed.
